Important Features of te Special Summer / Winter School

  • The programme will cover the Basic Sciences, Humanities, Social Science and Arts.
  • The Programme will be known as Special Summer and Winter School and the duration would be three weeks. It shall be divided into two parts i.e. (a) General Awareness and (b) Subject Specific Awareness. Time schedule will be equal ratio for both the courses.
  • The certificate issued for participation shall be considered equivalent to one Orientation Programme / Refresher Course for Career Advancement purposes.
  • The registration fees of Rs, 500/- will not be charged from the participants of the Summer / Winter Schools. It has been waived off.
  • Participants will be paid TA/ DA as per UGC-ASC guidelines.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS GOVERNING REGISTRATION OF PARTICIPANTS TO THE ORIENTAITON PROGRAMMES AND REFRESHER COURSES


  1. For registration, each participant will report to the Section Officer (ASC) at 9.30 a.m. on the date specified in the selection letter. Teachers reporting late may not be registered.
  2. No applicant will be entertained who fails to pay a Registration fee of Rs. 500/- (non refundable) in the shape of demand draft drawn in favour of the Director, UGC-Academic Staff College, University of Allahabad, payable at Allahabad along with confirmation/acceptance letter by the date mentioned in the selection letter.
  3. No applicant will be entertained who fails to submit a copy of the Relieving Order of the Principal in the case of College teachers and of the Head/Chairperson of the Department concerned in the case of University teacher, as per specimen given below, at the time of registration for the course.
  4. The medium of instructions for the programme/course will be English & Hindi.
  5. Each participant will be required to undertake some task for improving his/her subject knowledge. It may include book review, project work, experiments, writing papers, etc. Therefore, he/she should come prepared.
  6. The participant will not be granted any type of leave of absence during the programme. The report of absence, if any, during programme will be communicated to the Principal/Head of the Institution and the participant will have to attend the succeeding programmes/courses to make up for the period of absence and only thereafter they will be issued the certificate of participation of the programme/course.
  7. The Academic Staff College will pay DA @ Rs.250/- to the outstation participant per day for meeting both boarding and lodging expenses.
  8. Each outstation participant will be paid traveling charges as under: -

Outstation participant will be paid AC-III railway fare (all trains)/AC Deluxe bus fare (VOLVO BUS not allowed) on production of original tickets.
Note: TA bill in the absence of supporting documents in original will be rejected straight way.

  1. Local participants will get D.A. @ Rs.100/- per working day.
  2. No substitute will be allowed in place of the selected teacher.
  3. Each participant will be awarded a certificate after successful completion of the course. The grades shall be awarded after assessing the participants under the criteria - multiple choice objective test, seminar, project/ survey work, micro-teaching and overall response. The participants who get 'F' grade are required to repeat the programme after a gap of one year without financial commitment to UGC-Academic Staff College.

  • As per UGC guidelines, each participant is required to make a presentation (Seminar/Book review) relating to his area of interest/specialization for discussion. The participants will also be undertaking a research project out of the topics suggested by the ASC.
  • No leave is admissible during the programme. As per UGC guidelines, every participant has to be present on all working days. He/She is required to complete 108 and 144 contact hours in the ASC (6 hours a day) during a 3-week and 4-week programme respectively, failing which the certificate will include only the contact hours completed by the participant or he or she has to come again for completing the deficit days/hours at his/her expenses. No DA will be paid for the period of absence during a programme.
  • The participants are required to submit their TA & DA forms duly filled up within two days of their joining the programme.

Eligibility, Selection Criteria & Lodging

Orientation Courses

The orientation courses are essentially meant for college/university teachers with not more 8 years of continuous service. Then after a gap of one year, such teachers may opt for Refresher Course.

Refresher Course

The eligibility for attending Refresher Course for teachers who have attended earlier Orientation Course will be two years of service. There should normally be a gap of one year between two successive Refresher Courses.


Criteria for the selection of candidates for attending Orientation Programme/Refresher Course

The criteria for the selection of teachers for attending orientation programme and refresher course are as under:

1. The selection of candidates, is based on the principle of 'First come first serve basis' from amongst the eligible candidates whose applications are complete in all respects.
2. The minimum number of participants is 20 in a programme, which is strictly in accordance with UGC guidelines.


Lodging Arrangement

The Academic Staff College makes arrangement for the stay of participants in privately owned guesthouse.

The Address is SAI Kutir, 22A / 25B, C Y Chintamani Road, Darbhanga Colony, Near George Town Post Office, Behind Medical College Campus, Allahabad.

Here it is also important to mention that by the order of Honb'le Vice Chancellor, Prof. A K Singh the construction of few rooms for the teacher participants at University Guest House has already started.
