Research areas in CBCS includes Perception, Attention, Emotions, Consciousness, Creativity, Decision Making, Social Cognition, Language processing, Learning Disabilities and Cognitive Development (see Research).

CBCS has been set up with the support of the University Grants Commission as a Centre of Excellence and was the first to offer courses in Cognitive Science in India. It still runs the only Cognitive Science Master program in the country. (Know more..)

A Master (M.Sc.) and a Doctoral program in Cognitive Science are offered by the centre.
