Students who have completed a Bachelors degree in Behavioural/Cognitive Science or related disciplines including Psychology, Neuroscience, Biosciences, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Medicine, etc. are eligible to apply for admission to the Master program.
Students should have at least 55% (for General) at the Undergraduate level (50% for OBC/SC/ST) for appearing in the entrance exam. A written entrance test followed by interview is conducted for the purpose of selection.
The interview and the written test assess the student's capability for carrying out independent research and a flair for studying cognition.
Admission is based on the student's performance in the written test, interview and the bachelor degree.
Fellowships of 3,000 INR/month are also awarded to the selected candidates based on merit.

- Outline of the Course: The goal of the teaching program is to help to develop a richer appreciation of the mental processes as well as laws and principles that govern them. The focus is on processes including consciousness, perception, attention, knowledge acquisition, memory, decision making, reasoning, emotions, creativity and several other aspects of the mind studied through methodologies encompassing neuroscience and computer science. There is a strong emphasis on research projects and exposure to various theoretical and experimental studies in Cognitive Science. The Centre and the University provide an ideal environment for study and research in Cognitive Science. Allahabad University has already an undergraduate combination of courses in psychology, mathematics and computer science, which provides a solid base for teaching programme of this kind at the postgraduate level.
