The department of Medieval and Modern History was established in 1912. It imparts teaching and conducts research in two streams of history - (i) Medieval Indian History (ii) Modern Indian History. The department also teaches world history beginning from 1500 A.D. To 2000 A.D.
The department runs a library for research scholars and postgraduate students. The department also runs Pre-D.Phil. courses for the newly enrolled research scholars. This course runs for six months.
