Refresher Course in Political Science, December 2022

The 14th Refresher Course in Political Science was jointly organized by the Department of Political Science, University of Allahabad, and U.G.C-H.R.D.C, University of Allahabad, in online mode in December 2022. Around 69 participants from all parts of India ranging from Kashmir to Kerala, Maharashtra to the North-East, U.P., Bihar, and Uttarakhand took part in the course. It was inaugurated on December 6,2022 at 10:30 a.m. The Director, U.G.C-H.R.D.C, Prof. Ashish Saxena, welcomed the participants, and the Head of the Department of Political Science, Prof. Pankaj Kumar threw light on the theme of the course, namely ‘India at 75: Issues and Trends’. He pointed out that there have been many changes in Indian politics since its inception and it is now time to review the situation and find solutions to India’s problems. The Coordinator, Prof. Anuradha Agarwal, Department of Political Science, welcomed the Guest Speaker of the Inaugural Session, Prof. M.P. Dube ex-Vice Chancellor, Rajarshi Tandon Open University, and ex-Dean and Head of the Department, Department of Political Science, University of Allahabad and Kumaon University, Nainital respectively. Prof. Dube focused on the issue of Social Justice and Reservations in India. Highlighting the relevance of Refresher Courses as a necessary part of academic development of all young faculty members, Prof.Dube went on to highlight that reservations/affirmative actionis needed to mitigate social inequalities and to ensure social justice. However, he noted that the policy now needs to be amended in the light of changing social scenario and the economic factor should be given greater consideration (like the concept of ‘creamy layer’ and E.W.S reservations).

During the Refresher Course several lectures were given on various topics like Aspects of Indian Foreign Policy, Women Empowerment, Globalization and its Impact on India’s Development, Impact of Ecology on Indian Administration, and so on.

This 14th Refresher Course ended on December 19, 2022 with the valedictory session. It was conducted by the Coordinator, Prof. Anuradha Agarwal, who presented a brief summary of the lectures. Director, U.G.C-H.R.D.C, Dr. Ashish Saxena, expressed hope that the participants had learnt some new ideas during the course of the lectures. Head, Department of Political Science, University of Allahabad, Prof. Pankaj Kumar welcomed the Guest Speaker, Prof. Sushma Yadav, member U.G.C, ex-V.C, B.P.S. Mahila Vishwavidyalaya, Haryana and ex-V.C., IGNOU. In her valedictory address, Prof. Sushma Yadav focused on the objectives of the Constitution as stated in the Preamble. She also pointed out that the Indian Constitution is a complete document capable of facing challenges and adapting itself to the exigencies of time. Such a Constitution is the backbone of a strong, self-dependent Bharat. Finally, the session ended with the participants thanking the Guest Speaker, Prof. Sushma Yadav and the Coordinator, Prof. Anuradha Agarwal.

Valedictory Ceremony of Refresher Course on “Mathematics and its Applications"

The UGC-HRDC sponsored Two-week Refresher course in Mathematics on the theme “Mathematics and its Applications” from November 02-15, 2022 was organized online by the Department of Mathematics, University of Allahabad. In this Refresher Course 56 participants from 13 states including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhaya Pradesh, West Bengal, Assam, Maharashtra, Haryana, Chhattisgarh, Tamil Nadu, Arunachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Goa and Rajasthan participated and successfully completed the course. Resource persons on various disciplines like, Algebra, Analysis, Topology, Geometry, Knot Theory, Number Theory, History of Mathematics, Summability Theory, Differential Equations, Mathematical Modelling, Fluid Mechanics, Wavelets Analysis, Numerical Analysis, Soft Computing, and Statistics, etc. delivered their lectures and some useful applications were explored. The resource persons were from reputed Institutes like IITs, IISER Pune, HRI Allahabad, ISM-IIT Dhanbad, BHU, Delhi University, University of Allahabad, NEHU Shillong, BBAU Lucknow, University of Lucknow, MNNIT Allahabad and HBTU Kanpur.

In the concluding session on November 15, 2022, the Course coordinator Prof. Satya Deo warmly welcomed the Chief Guest Professor Ramji Lal (former HoD of Mathematics, UoA), Professor Sekhar Srivastava, the Dean Faculty of Science and Professor Ashish Saxena, the Director UGC-HRDC, University of Allahabad. In his address on the occasion, Professor R. P. Shukla, Head, Department of Mathematics described how the practical needs lead to discovery of new theories in Mathematics and emphasized upon the usefulness of research in Mathematics. Professor Ashish Saxena, while addressing the participants, underlined the importance of Mathematics in every walk of life. The Chief Guest, Professor Ramji Lal, blessed the participants with his words of wisdom. In his address, he described how the empirical observations lead to Mathematical formulations and development of new theories. He also stressed on the need to treat Mathematics in a unified manner and not by dividing it in different branches and treating them disjointedly. He delivered the valedictory lecture also. Subsequently, the Dean, Professor Sekhar Srivastava delivered his presidential address. In his address, he elaborately described various emerging branches of Mathematics. The valedictory came to conclusion with the vote of thanks followed by National Anthem.

Valedictory Ceremony of Refresher Course on “Global Warming and Sustainable Development”

The UGC-HRDC sponsored 14 days online Refresher Course on “Global Warming and Sustainable Development” was organized by K. Banrejee Centre of Atmospheric and Ocean Studies (KBCAOS), University of Allahabad from 1st November to 14th November 2022. On the 14th November, in the valedictory session, Professor Uma CharanMohanty, Emeritus Professor at IIT Bhubaneshwar and Shanti SwarupBhatnagar Awardee, was the Chief Guest of the programme. The Centre Coordinator, Professor SuneetDwivedi gave the opening remark about this 14 day course. Professor AshishSaxena, Director UGC-HRDC, University of Allahabad addressed the programme and stated that “it is not at all end of the climate related activity but it’s an opening.” Under the topic of the “Global Warming and Sustainable Development”, various issues of global warming and their mitigation, adaptation and management were discussed.  About 48 eminent scientists and professors from different institutions including central universities IITs, NITs, National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research (NCPOR) Goa, Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) Hyderabad, Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM) Pune, Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Bhopal, and Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) delivered their lectures. 61 Assistant Professors from Jammu, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, New Delhi, Gujarat, Meghalay, Odisha, West Bengal, Assam and Kerala participated in this course. The chief guest’s topic of keynote lecture was “Global Warming, Extreme Weather Event and Sustainable Development”. He suggested that as a teacher we have responsibility to increase the awareness about the climate consequences which will help to achieve our goal to minimize the losses by climate change induced disasters. Dr. Vivek Kumar Pandey coordinated this course.

Guest of Honourof the session was Prof. Harikesh Singh, Former Vice Chancellor, Jai Prakash University, Chapra, Bihar, and presently Visitor of Gopal Narayan Singh Vishwavidyalaya, Sasaram, Bihar. He emphasized on innovation through revitalization, revamping, relook and rejuvenation. He said that if teacher is a good manager in the classroom, then ‘learning society’ will be an ‘achieving society’. Chief Guest of the inaugural session was Prof. KalpalataPandey, Vice Chancellor Jananayak Chandrashekhar Vishwavidyalaya, Ballia, UP. She emphasized on learning of Indian languages and teaching in regional languages. She told that if innovative teachers will be selected then our India will again become Vishwaguru. Prof. AshishSaxena, Director,UGC-HRDC, University of Allahabad talked about the significance of this Refresher Course. Inauguration of 10th “Faculty Induction Programme”

The 10th Faculty Induction Programme was inauguratedby the UGC-Human Resource Development Centre, University of Allahabad under the GURU DAKSHTA scheme of the University Grants Commissionon 07November 2022 in the online mode. The Chief Guest of the inaugural session was ProfessorChakardharTripathi, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Central University of Odisha, and it was presided by Professor P. K. Sahoo, Ex-Vice-Chancellor, University of Allahabad.

The programme began with the formal welcome address by ProfessorAshishSaxena, Director, UGC-Human Resource Development Centre, University of Allahabad. In his address, he outlined the modalities of the Faculty Induction Programme and its ten modules in brief. ProfessorChakradharTripathi, in his inaugural speech,focused on the roles and challenges of teachers inhigher education system and how to sustain quality education in India.

In his presidential address, Professor P. K. Sahoo spoke on the responsibilities of different stakeholders of higher education in the light of New Education Policy 2020. The coordinator of this 10th Faculty Induction Programme, Dr. Sudhanshu Kumar Jha, provided broader outline and schedule of the programme that was followed by the vote of thanks by Dr. Vijay Kumar Roy, Deputy Director, UGC-HRDC. The programme was attended by the participants from different parts of the country.

Refresher Course on “Mathematics and its Applications”was inauguratedin online mode by the Department of Mathematics under UGC-HRDC, University of Allahabad. In this refresher course, basic concepts and advancement in various disciplines, such as Algebra, Analysis, Topology, Geometry, Knot Theory, Differential Equations, Fluid Mechanics, Mathematical Modelling, Numerical Analysis and Statistics, etc.will be discussed and some useful applications will be explored. About 35 resource persons from reputed Institutes like IITs, IISER Pune, ISI Bangalore, HRI Allahabad, ISM-IITDhanbad, BHU, Delhi University, University of Allahabad, NEHU Shillong, BBAU Lucknow, University of Lucknow, MNNIT Allahabad and HBTU Kanpur and others have given their consent to deliver online lectures. Sixty-three (63) participants from all over the country have been shortlisted for this course. In the Inaugural session, Course coordinator, ProfessorSatyaDeo warmly welcomed the Chief Guest Professor B. Rai (former HoD of  Mathematics, UoA), the Dean (Research &Development), Professor S.I. Rizvi, who presided over the session, and the Director UGC-HRDC, Professor Ashish Saxena, and also elaborated on the course. Professor R.P. Shukla, Head of the Department of Mathematics introduced the Department, and Professor Ashish Saxena introduced the participants to UGC-HRDC, University of Allahabad and also spoke about the relevance of the theme of the course. Subsequently, the Dean (R&D), Professor S. I. Rizvi delivered the presidential address in which he emphasized upon the importance of mathematics in all branches of science. Professor P.K. Singh, Professor Mona Khare, Professor S.S. Shukla and other colleagues of the department, Heads of other departments and faculty members were also present. The Chief Guest, Professor B. Rai delivered the inaugural lecture on the topic “Autonomous ODE Models in Population Ecology” and discussed various basic mathematical models for solving real life problems. Valedictory Ceremony of 9th "Faculty Induction Programme"

The Valedictory ceremony of the one month duration 9th Faculty Induction Programme was organized by UGC-Human Resource Development Centre, University of Allahabad on 23 September 2022. The chief guest of the event was Prof. Subhas Chandra Saha, former Vice Chancellor of Assam University, Silchar. His deliberation was insightful and full of wisdom. He spoke on character development, optimistic attitude and nation-building as the motto of the new generation of teachers of higher education in India. He cited the examples from the life and works of Lord Buddha, Swami Vivekananda, Rabindranath Tagore and others. He also emphasized on hope, spiritualism, institution building, and Indian value system all in the light of higher education of India. The programme started with the formal welcome address by Prof. Ashish Saxena, Director, UGC-Human Resource Development Centre, University of Allahabad and coordinated by Dr. Vijay Kumar Roy, Associate Professor of English, University of Allahabad. The Third Workshop on NEP 2020 held at UGC-HRDC, University of Allahabad

The third workshop on New Education Policy 2020 was organized on 20thSeptember 2022 by UGC-Human Resource Development Centre, University of Allahabad. The theme of the workshop was “Internationalization of Higher Education: Restructuring Higher Education in India.” The resource person of the workshop was Prof. Mohammad Miyan, former Vice Chancellor, Maulana Azad National Urdu University, Hyderabad. The programme started with the welcome address by Prof. Ashish Saxena, Director, UGC-HRDC, University of Allahabad and it was coordinated by Dr. Sudhanshu Kumar Jha, Assistant Director, UGC-HRDC, University of Allahabad. Prof. Miyan spoke on the challenges of higher education in the context of international scenario. He emphasized the broader outline of the NEP 2020and the strategies to adapt the universities with the changing framework. He suggested for the homogenization and standardization of the syllabus as well as the guidelines to make it uniform across the country. He also focused on the parameter of technology, gender and region towards assessing the higher education. The workshop was attended by forty five participants.

साहित्य में इतिहासविषय पर हिंदी का चौथा पुनश्चर्या कार्यक्रम संपन्न

साहित्य में इतिहासविषय पर हिंदी एवं आधुनिक भारतीय भाषा विभाग ने पुनश्चर्या कार्यक्रम का आयोजन किया I यह कार्यक्रम 05.09.2022 को शुरू हुआ और 18.09.2022 को समाप्त हुआ I इलाहाबाद विश्वविद्यालय के यू.जी.सी. मानव संसाधन विकास केंद्र द्वारा वित्त पोषित यह हिंदी विषय का चौथा पुनश्चर्या कार्यक्रम था I यह कार्यक्रम पूर्णतः आनलाइन था I इस कार्यक्रम में देश के अनेक विश्वविद्यालयों और महाविद्यालयों के लगभग 80 शिक्षकों ने प्रतिभाग किया I इस 14 दिवसीय कार्यक्रम के संयोजक हिंदी विभाग के एसोसिएट प्रोफ़ेसर  डॉ. बसंत त्रिपाठी और सहसंयोजक हिंदी विभाग के ही एसोसिएट प्रोफ़ेसर डॉ. अमरेंद्र त्रिपाठी थे I

Celebration of  "Shikshak Parv" at UGC-HRDC (05-09 Sept, 2022)

As per the guidelines provided by UGC and Ministry of Education, Government of India, “Shikshak Parv” was celebrated by UGC-Human Resource Development Centre, University of Allahabad from September 5 to 9, 2022. It started with the welcome address of Prof. Ashish Saxena, Director, UGC-Human Resource Development Centre, University of Allahabad. The resource person of the first day was Prof. Peeush Ranjan Agrawal, former Vice Chancellor, Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh & Avdhesh Pratap Singh University, Reva, Madhya Pradesh. The topic of his deliberation was “Carving out a Conscious Personality: NEP 2020.” On 6th September, Prof. Umesh Chandra Vashistha, former Professor of Education, Head and Dean, Department of Education, University of Lucknow was the resource person. His deliberation was on “Lessons from Foreign Countries for Indians in the Light of NEP 2020.” On 7th September Prof. Harikesh Singh, former Vice Chancellor, Jai Prakash University, Chapra, Bihar and former Head & Dean, Faculty of Education, Banaras Hindu University delivered his lecture on the topic “Academic Integrity and Value System in Higher Education.” On 8th September, Prof. Prithvish Nag, former Vice Chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith, Varanasi; Uttar Pradesh Rajarshri Tandon Open University, Prayagraj; Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University, Gorakhpur; and Sampurnanand Sanskrit Vishwavidyalaya, Varanasi, spoke on the topic “Challenges for Teachers in Higher Education: Practical Issues Related to NEP 2020.” This programme came to an end on 9th September by the lecture of Prof. K. The Second Workshop on NEP 2020 held at UGC-HRDC, University of Allahabad

The second workshop on New Education Policy 2020 was organized on 29th August 2022 by UGC-Human Resource Development Centre, University of Allahabad. The theme of the workshop was “Motivated, Energized and Capable Faculty.” The resource person of the workshop was Prof. P. K. Sahoo, former Vice-Chancellor, University of Allahabad, and presently ICSSR Fellow, Department of Education, University of Allahabad. The programme started with the welcome address by Dr. Vijay Kumar Roy, Deputy Director, UGC-HRDC, University of Allahabad and Coordinator of the workshop. Prof. Ashish Saxena, Director, UGC-HRDC, University of Allahabad concluded it by highlighting professional competence and professional development of faculty members of higher education in the context of NEP 2020.

Inaugural Session of 9th "Faculty Induction Programme"

The 9th Faculty Induction Programme was organized by the UGC-Human Resource Development Centre, University of Allahabad under the GURU DAKSHTA scheme of the University Grants Commission. The inaugural session was organized on August 25, 2022 in the online mode. The Chief Guest of the occasion was Prof. Neelima Gupta, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Harisingh Gour University, Sagar and presided by Prof. Sangita Srivastava, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, University of Allahabad, Prayagraj.

The programme began with the formal welcome address by Prof. Ashish Saxena, Director, UGC-Human Resource Development Centre, University of Allahabad. In his address, he outlined the modalities of the Faculty Induction Programme and its various modules suggested by UGC. Prof Neelima Gupta in her inaugural speech discussed about the role of multidisciplinary education and the advantages and disadvantages of online teaching and learning. She focused on the role of value education, character development and the lifelong learning abilities. She referred to the architects of the modern India like Swami Vivekanand, Rabindranath Tagore, Mahatma Gandhi, Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In the presidential address, Prof. Sangita Srivastava deliberated on the aspects on science, new knowledge, spiritual aspects of life and the need for enlightenment of education and upgradation of knowledge. She emphasized on the role of practical experiences in developing professionalism and value system. She also focused on enhancing powerful personality by developing will-power, humility and fearlessness. Her lively deliberation was full of practicality and indigenous wisdom.

Coordinator of this 9th Faculty Induction Programme, Dr. Vijay Kumar Roy, had provided broader outline and schedule of the programme that was followed by vote of thanks by Dr. Sudhanshu Kumar Jha, Assistant Director, UGC-HRDC. 2 Day Workshop on NEP-2020 (17-18 June 2022)

UGC-Human Resource Development Centre, University of Allahabad organized 2 Day Workshop on NEP 2020. It was intended to sensitise the participants including faculty members and scholars about the internalisation components of NEP 2020. Dr. Prashant Khattri, Deputy Director, UGC-HRDC, University of Allahabad welcomed the guest speaker and participants and further highlighted the role of the UGC-HRDC in training the faculty and scholars with the latest trends in higher education. The Workshop was inaugurated on 17 June 2022 with an expert talk on ‘Research Integrity’ a most important factor for an academician by Dr. Bhupendra Kumar Singh, University Librarian, Central Library, University of Allahabad. Dr. Singh discussed various points associated with fundamental values of academic integrity, research misconduct, and good scientific practices along with Shodh Chakra, and Indian Copyright Act. Further Dr. Singh enumerated that to ensure research integrity, the execution of ethical standards, research conduct, and accurate documentation and reporting are inevitable. He explained, besides good leadership, honesty, accountability and professional courtesies are extremely imperative. He cited several instances of grave ethical misconducts of plagiarism, image duplication, falsification and fabrication of data by the high-profile academicians and researchers from prestigious institutes across the globe.

In the second session on 17 June, Prof. Susheel Kumar Sharma, Professor of English, University of Allahabad discussed the vibrant topic of NEP 2020, i.e., “Internationalization of Higher Education”. In his talk, Dr. Sharma discussed Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4) and its 10 targets which aim to “ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.”

In the first meeting on 18 June an expert talk was delivered by Dr. Dhananjay Chopra, Course Coordinator, Centre of Media Studies, University of Allahabad on the topic “Digital Governance.” Dr. Chopra explained that a metamorphosis changes have been occurred in the society and in the education system due to this digital revolution and thus it is a time to develop self-organized learning environment. He showed various digital tools and applications to support the teaching and learning environment.

In the last session on 18 June, Prof. Dhananjay Yadav, Professor and Head, Department of Education delivered a talk on “Educational Framework for Global Citizen in Higher Education.” In his presentation Dr. Yadav emphasized that global citizenship education in India is a key factor promoting more freedom and democracy in today’s globalized world. The discussion centered around learnership, citizenship education, challenges to the Indian education system, skilled and competent learner, democratic learning, and learning environment. Dr. Yadav further discussed about approaches to the delivery, approaches to curriculum organization, pedagogical approaches, implementation modalities, and approaches to assessment of learning outcomes relating to global citizenship in higher education.

दिनांक 9 अक्टूबर 2020 को मानव संसाधन विकास केंद्र इलाहाबाद विश्वविद्यालय के तत्वाधान में सूचना के अधिकार  पर एक दिवसीय ऑनलाइन कार्यशाला का आयोजन किया गया। उद्घाटन सत्र में इलाहाबाद विश्वविद्यालय के कुलपति प्रोफेसर आर आर तिवारी जी के अनुसार आज नागरिक सूचना के अधिकार कानून का लाभ उठा रहे हैं जो कि उनके सशक्तिकरण के लिए बहुत आवश्यक है। उनके अनुसार इससे पब्लिक ऑफिसेज की जवाबदेही बढ़ गई है। इलाहाबाद विश्वविद्यालय के कुलसचिव प्रोफेसर इनके शुक्ला जी ने अपना विचार रखते हुए यह कहा कि विश्वविद्यालय द्वारा फाइल मैनेजमेंट सिस्टम पर जो कार्य हो रहा है उससे आरटीआई के निस्तारण में मदद मिलेगी। एचआरडीसी के निदेशक प्रोफेसर एचके शर्मा जी के अनुसार आरटीआई लोकतंत्र की पहचान है और न्यायपालिका भी इसके निस्तारण में एक महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभा रही है। इलाहाबाद विश्वविद्यालय के मुख्य सूचना अधिकारी डॉक्टर शैलेंद्र कुमार मिश्रा जी ने अपने वक्तव्य में यह कहा कि आज जरूरत है आरटीआई इकोसिस्टम को मजबूत करने की। उन्होंने आरटीआई के संबंध में व्यवहारिक पक्ष को रखा। इलाहाबाद विश्वविद्यालय के विधि विभाग के सहायक प्राध्यापक डॉ अंशुमन मिश्रा जी ने आरटीआई पर बात करते हुए फ्रीडम और राइट के संदर्भ में आरटीआई कानून की व्याख्या करें। इलाहाबाद हाईकोर्ट के वरिष्ठ अधिवक्ता श्री राधाकांत ओझा जी ने अपने वक्तव्य में आरटीआई को भारत के संविधान के साथ जोड़ते हुए उसके प्रावधानों की चर्चा करें। अंतिम सत्र में नेहरू ग्राम भारती विश्वविद्यालय के कुलसचिव श्री आर एल विश्वकर्मा जी ने अपने वक्तव्य में यह बताया कि जानकारी मांगने वाले और देने वाले के बीच एक प्रकार का संतुलन बनाने का कार्य भी आरटीआई कानून के तहत संभव है। उन्होंने आरटीआई एक्ट से संबंधित बारीकियों को समझाया। इस कार्यक्रम का संचालन मानव संसाधन विकास केंद्र के सहायक निदेशक डॉ प्रशांत खत्री ने किया।

Two sessions were conducted on the fifth day of the ongoing one week faculty development programme at the HRDC University of Allahabad. In the morning session Professor Anupam Pande from the Department of Geography, University of Allahabad delivered his lecture on Climate Change and Hydro Meteorological Hazards. He talked about the issues of Climate Change and disasters and emphasize the need for sustainable development. The second session was conducted by Professor Sheila Rai, former principal St. Xaviers College Jaipur. She gave her lecture on the topic Gandhi in Contemporary Times. She emphasized the need to understand Gandhian philosophy in all its dimensions for academic leadership and sustainable development.

On the fourth day of of the one week online Faculty Development Program at the UGC HRDC University of Allahabad two sessions were conducted. In the morning session Dr B K Singh, University Librarian, University of Allahabad delivered his lecture on the topic "Ethics in Academic Writing." He talked about the issues of plagiarism and how through various ways academicians can adopt best practices. In the second session Professor (Retd.) Jatashankar from the Department of Philosophy University of Allahabad delivered his lecture on the topic "Philosophy for Everybody." He talked about the importance of philosophy and philosophical understanding in our everyday lives. He also emphasized that how  academicians from various disciplines adopt philosophy and philosophical thinking in not only their academic life but also in their day-to-day deliberations that can help in assuming leadership roles.

Two sessions were conducted on August 7 2020 in the Faculty Development Program being organised at the HRDC, University of Allahabad. In the morning session Professor M.P. Sachdeva, Head, Department of Anthropology, University of Delhi, delivered his lecture on the topic Forensic Science: Issues and Challenges. Besides other things he specially discussed the role of forensic science in the context of Cyber crimes that have increased due to the increase in online transactions. The second session was conducted by Professor Manmohan Krishna, Department of Economics, University of Allahabad. Professor Krishna spoke on the topic: Choices and Decision Making. According to him there is an entire range of algorithms that are constantly affecting our decision making process. He questioned the idea of independent decision making.

On the second day of of the one week online Faculty Development Program at the HRDC, University of Allahabad two sessions where conducted. In the morning session Professor Vinay Kumar Srivastava, Director, Anthropological Survey of India, Kolkata delivered his lecture on the topic Teaching Courses on Research Methods. He was of the view that there is a need for a Paradigm shift in the pedagogy from a hierarchical teacher-learner relationship towards a more egalitarian relationship. This will indeed help in the development of a critical perspective that is very much required in the context of research. He was in favour for the development of a pedagogic culture of research methods where-in teaching and learning of research method is not taken for granted but is given a very central position. The second session was conducted by Dr Dhananjai Chopra from the cCentre of Media Studies University of Allahabad. He spoke on the topic Need and Importance of Media Literacy. According to him there is a need for the development of a Participatory Audience in order to develop a new kind of a teaching pedagogy. Expansion of communication and new objects coming at the centre of the communication channel is enabling as well as challenging in the present context. According to him information literacy, two way communication model and webcasting are important tools in the context of media literacy.

On August 5 2020 a one week faculty development programme took off in the online mode at the UGC hrdc University of Allahabad. Professor BP Sharma honorable vice chancellor of the Gautam Buddha University Greater Noida was the chief guest. He also delivered the inaugural lecture. The inaugural session was attended by professor HK Sharma director hrdc at the University of Allahabad. He also formally welcomed the chief guest. Professor BP Sharma spoke on the topic higher education in the age of disruption. According to him there is a need for a civilizational approach to understand and move ahead in this age of disruption. ancient philosophies and modern technological innovations should come together for a better future. Artificial intelligence is one area that is going to come up in a big way in order to resolve disruptions. The second session of the day was conducted by professor SK Sharma from the department of English and modern European languages University of Allahabad. He elaborately spoke on the issue of academic performance indicator and emphasized the need to understand the neoliberal dimensions in respect of academic publishing and career advancement. There are in all 50 participants in the the program from different parts of the country like Mizoram Madhya Pradesh Himachal Pradesh Andhra Pradesh Chhattisgarh Sikkim and Uttar Pradesh. The program is coordinated by Dr Prashant khattri assistant director hrdc University of Allahabad.

यूजीसी मानव संसाधन विकास केंद्र  इलाहाबाद विश्वविद्यालय के तत्वाधान में आयोजित 1 सप्ताह के ऑनलाइन शॉर्ट टर्म कोर्स का आज अंतिम दिन था। इस दिन दो सत्रों का आयोजन किया गया। प्रथम सत्र में प्रोफेसर सुमिता परमार ने अपना व्याख्यान म.बवदजमदज निर्माण से जुड़े अपने अनुभवों के आधार पर दिया। उन्होंने ईपीजी पाठशाला में कार्य करते वक्त अपने अनुभवों को प्रतिभागियों से साझा किया। दूसरे सत्र में डॉ आशीष खरे ने मूडल और इंडिया आर्काइव्स विषय पर अपना व्याख्यान दिया। उन्होंने बड़े विस्तार से मूडल प्लेटफार्म के बारे में बताया। 15 अगस्त 2019 को भारत सरकार ने इंडिया आर्काइव नाम से एक ऑनलाइन प्लेटफॉर्म प्रारंभ किया जिसके तहत 2022 तक पब्लिक फंडेड रिसर्च को ऑनलाइन उपलब्ध कराने का संकल्प है। इस पूरे कार्यक्रम को डॉ प्रशांत खत्री सहायक निदेशक मानव संसाधन विकास केंद्र इलाहाबाद विश्वविद्यालय ने कोऑर्डिनेट किया।

यूजीसी मानव संसाधन विकास केंद्र इलाहाबाद विश्वविद्यालय के तत्वाधान मैं आयोजित 1 सप्ताह के शॉर्ट टर्म कोर्स का आज पांचवा दिन था। आज दो सत्रों का आयोजन किया गया प्रथम सत्र में मानव विज्ञान विभाग में सहायक प्रोफेसर डॉक्टर शैलेंद्र मिश्रा जी ने अपना व्याख्यान मैसिव ऑनलाइन ओपन कोर्सेज के भारतीय और वैश्विक इतिहास एवं स्तर के ऊपर दिया। इन के अनुसार एक विशेष ऐतिहासिक पृष्ठभूमि के अंतर्गत हम ई कंटेंट डेवलपमेंट को देख सकते हैं जो ज्ञान के एक व्यापक विस्तार पर आधारित है। दूसरे सत्र में सेंटर फॉर एटमॉस्फेरिक एंड ओसियन स्टडीज इलाहाबाद विश्वविद्यालय के प्रोफेसर सुनीत द्विवेदी जी ने अपना व्याख्यान म.बवदजमदज और ऑनलाइन कोर्सेज से संबंधित यूजीसी और मानव संसाधन विकास मंत्रालय द्वारा निर्गत गाइडलाइंस के ऊपर दिया। उनके अनुसार म.बवदजमदज निर्माण और ऑनलाइन शिक्षण के संदर्भ में इन गाइडलाइंस को ध्यान में रखना अत्यंत आवश्यक है।

यूजीसी मानव संसाधन विकास केंद्र इलाहाबाद विश्वविद्यालय के तत्वाधान में आयोजित 1 सप्ताह के शॉर्ट टर्म कोर्स का आज चौथा दिन था। इस दिन दो सत्रों का आयोजन किया गया प्रथम सत्र में इंदिरा गांधी राष्ट्रीय मुक्त विश्वविद्यालय के शोध एवं विकास विंग की डिप्टी डायरेक्टर डॉ निशा सिंह ने अपना व्याख्यान ओपन एजुकेशनल रिसोर्सेस और सीसी लाइसेंसइंग पर दिया। इसके अंतर्गत उन्होंने यह बताया कि किस प्रकार से अध्यापक e-content विकसित करते वक्त विभिन्न मुक्त प्लेटफार्म उसका उपयोग कर सकते हैं उसके साथ साथ ऑनलाइन ऐसे भी स्रोत मौजूद हैं जिनके उपयोग द्वारा हम अपने e-content को और भी प्रभावी बना सकते हैं। कोर्स के दूसरे सत्र में अंबेडकर विश्वविद्यालय दिल्ली के लिबरल स्टडीज विभाग के सहायक प्राध्यापक डॉ उल्फत अंजुम मीर ने समाज विज्ञान विषयों में ई लर्निंग की संभावनाएं और चुनौतियां विषय पर अपना व्याख्यान दिया। इस व्याख्यान के माध्यम से डॉक्टर मीर ने लर्निंग आउटकम को ई लर्निंग का एक महत्वपूर्ण हिस्सा बताया और एक केस स्टडी के माध्यम से इस विषय पर प्रकाश डाला।

यूजीसी मानव विकास संसाधन केंद्र इलाहाबाद विश्वविद्यालय के तत्वाधान में आयोजित 1 सप्ताह के शॉर्ट टर्म कोर्स का आज तीसरा दिन था। दो सत्रों का आयोजन किया गया। प्रथम सत्र में प्रोफेसर आशीष सक्सेना अध्यक्ष समाजशास्त्र विभाग इलाहाबाद विश्वविद्यालय ने अपना व्याख्यान आईसीटी के माध्यम से ग्रामीण विकास विषय पर दिया। उनके अनुसार आईसीटी के माध्यम से विकास में अपार संभावनाएं निहित है। दूसरे सत्र में डॉक्टर मीटू दास मानव विज्ञान विभाग इंदिरा गांधी राष्ट्रीय मुक्त विश्वविद्यालय नई दिल्ली ने अपना व्याख्यान मिश्रित अध्ययन के ऊपर दिया। उनके अनुसार आगे आने वाले समय में ऑनलाइन एवं ऑफलाइन का मिश्रण उच्च शिक्षा में संभव है और इस तरीके के शिक्षण में अपार संभावनाएं हैं। इस आयोजन को डॉ प्रशांत खत्री सहायक निदेशक मानव संसाधन विकास केंद्र इलाहाबाद विश्वविद्यालय द्वारा कोऑर्डिनेट किया गया।

यूजीसी मानव संसाधन विकास केंद्र इलाहाबाद विश्वविद्यालय के तत्वाधान में आयोजित e-content रिसोर्सेज ओपन एजुकेशनल रिसोर्सेस और मैसिव ऑनलाइन ओपन कोर्सेज पर 1 सप्ताह के शॉर्ट टर्म कोर्स का आज पहला दिन था।  पहले दिन दो सत्रों का आयोजन किया गया प्रथम सत्र में विश्वविद्यालय के माननीय कुलपति प्रोफेसर आर आर तिवारी जी ने अपना उद्घाटन वक्तव्य दिया। यह वक्तव्य लर्निंग इन ट्वेंटी फर्स्ट सेंचुरी पर केंद्रित था। प्रोफेसर तिवारी के अनुसार वर्तमान परिपेक्ष में हम वर्चुअल स्पेस पर निर्भर हो गए हैं और हमारे पास ऑनलाइन मोड में बहुत सारे प्लेटफार्म उपलब्ध है जिनके माध्यम से हम अपने विद्यार्थियों शिक्षकों और कर्मचारियों के साथ जुड़ सकते हैं। उन्होंने यह भी बताया कि इलाहाबाद विश्वविद्यालय एक सरवर का निर्माण कर रहा है जो कि प्रशासनिक और अकाउंट के मटेरियल को ऑनलाइन उपलब्ध कराएगा। यह इन्वायरमेंट 31 जुलाई तक बीटा वर्जन लॉन्च होने की संभावना है यह पूरी तरीके से इलाहाबाद विश्वविद्यालय द्वारा विकसित किया गया है और इसमें किसी तरीके की कोई बाहरी मदद नहीं ली गई है। इसी सत्र में डॉ सुनीता त्रिपाठी ने गूगल के माध्यम से किस प्रकार एक वर्चुअल एनवायरमेंट का निर्माण किया जाए इस पर ज्ञानवर्धक जानकारी उपलब्ध कराई। डॉक्टर त्रिपाठी ने गूगल डॉक्यूमेंट गूगल शीट गूगल फॉर्म और गूगल क्लासरूम को किस प्रकार उपयोग किया जाए इस पर महत्वपूर्ण जानकारी दी। इस कोर्स के दूसरे सत्र में प्रोफेसर धनंजय चोपड़ा सेंटर फॉर मीडिया स्टडीज ने अपना व्याख्यान कंटेंट क्यूरेशन ब्लॉगिंग पॉडकास्ट विषय पर दिया उन्होंने यह बताया कि किस प्रकार से अध्यापकों को इस समय माइक्रोब्लॉगिंग पॉडकास्ट इत्यादि का इस्तेमाल अपने विद्यार्थियों से जुड़ने के लिए करना चाहिए

June 26 was the first day of the three days online faculty development programme organized by the UGC_HRDC, University of Allahabad. A total of 96 participants registered for the course. Besides the speaker and participants, the Director, UGC_HRDC, University of Allahabad was present in the inaugural session and he formally welcomed the speaker. The inaugural lecture was delivered by Prof. Vinay Kumar Srivastava, Director, Anthropological Survey of India, Kolkata. He talked about the basic tenets of social science research where he began his lecture with some basic terms used in social sciences and emphasized the importance of thoroughly understanding these terms in order to understand the nuances of the social science research. He also emphasized the need to amalgamate the qualitative and quantitative dimensions of research as there are two ways of knowing viz- by going around and by going inside. He then spoke on the issues of reflexivity and androcentric bias in social research. Prof. Ashish Saxena, Head, Department of Sociology, University of Allahabad delivered the second lecture. His spoke on the methodological issues in qualitative research. He emphasized that there is a need to problematize the notion of science and scientific research. He then talked about the ideas of inductive,deductive, idiographic, nomithetic, rationality and empirical dimensions of social science research. Both sessions ended with a formal vote of thanks. This online programme is beings coordinated by Dr. Prashant Khattri, Assistant Director, UGC_HRDC.

यू.जी.सी. मानव संसाधन विकास केंद्र, इलाहाबाद विश्वविद्यालय, प्रयागराज द्वारा आयोजित ऑनलाइन तीन दिवसीय शिक्षक विकास कार्यशाला का आज पहला दिन था. कुल 96 प्रतिभागियों ने अपना पंजीकरण इस कार्यशाला हेतु करवाया. इस ऑनलाइन कार्यशाला में वक्ता और प्रतिभागियों के अलावा मानव संसाधन विकास केंद्र, इलाहाबाद विश्वविद्यालय के निदेशक प्रो. हरि कुमार शर्मा भी मौजूद थे और उन्होंने वक्ताओं का स्वागत किया. आरंभिक सत्र में भारतीय मानवविज्ञान सर्वेक्षण, कोलकाता के निदेशक प्रो. विनय कुमार श्रीवास्तव ने व्याख्यान दिया. उन्होंने सामाजिक विज्ञान शोध के आधारभूत स्तंभों की चर्चा की. उनके अनुसार शोध में प्रयोग होने वाली शब्दावली को समझना सामजिक विज्ञान शोध को समझने हेतु अति आवश्यक है. उन्होंने गुणात्मक और संख्यात्मक शोध के समन्वय की भी बात कही. दुसरे सत्र में प्रो. आशीष सक्सेना, हेड, समाजशास्त्र विभाग, इलाहाबाद विश्वविद्यालय ने अपना व्याख्यान दिया. उन्होंने गुणात्मक शोध के प्राविधिक पक्षों पर अपने विचार रखे. इसके उपरांत उन्होंने वैज्ञानिक शोध और शोध पद्धति कि चर्चा करी और वर्तमान परिप्रेक्ष्य में उसकी प्रासंगिगता पर विचार रखे. इस कार्यशाला में देश के विभिन्न प्रान्तों से प्रतिभागी आये थे जैसे- तेलंगाना, छत्तीसगढ़, उत्तर प्रदेश, दिल्ली, मध्य परदेश, केरला इत्यादि. कार्यशाला के प्रथम दिन का समापन एक औपचारिक धन्यवाद ज्ञापन से हुआ. इस कार्यशाला का आयोजन डा. प्रशांत खत्री, सहायक निदेशक, यू.जी.सी. मानव संसाधन विकास केंद्र, इलाहाबाद विश्वविद्यालय ने किया.

दिनांक 24 फरवरी 2020 को ई-कंटेंट निर्माण और मुक्त शैक्षणिक संसाधनों पर इलाहाबाद विश्वविद्यालय के मानव संसाधन विकास केंद्र द्वारा संचालित सात दिवसीय कोर्स का दूसरा दिन रहा. शहर और देश के विभिन्न कालेजों और विश्वविद्यालयों से आये प्रतिभागियों ने दो सत्र में वक्ताओं का व्याख्यान सुना. प्रथम सत्र में इलाहाबाद विश्वविद्यालय केंद्रीय पुस्तकालय के लाइब्रेरियन डा. बी.के सिंह ने अपना व्याख्यान “मुक्त शैक्षणिक संसाधन” विषय पर दिया. इस विषय पर बोलते हुए उन्होंने पुस्तकालय विज्ञान में मुक्त संसाधनों और श्रोतों के महत्व पर अपने विचार रखे. उन्होंने कहा कि अब ओपन एक्सेस पुस्तकालयों का समय है जहां ज्ञान भौतिक सीमाओं के परे एक मुक्त स्थान में विचरण करता है. कोर्स के दूसरे सत्र में इलाहबाद विश्वविद्यालय के समाजशास्त्र विभाग के प्रोफ़ेसर आशीष सक्सेना ने “सूचना और सम्प्रेषण तकनीक का राष्ट्रीय स्तर पर विकास” विषय पर व्याख्यान दिया. इस व्याख्यान के माध्यम से उन्होंने यह बताया कि नयी तकनीक जितनी लाभकारी होती है उतना ही उसे लेकर सतर्क रहने की भी आवश्यकता है. इस उत्तर आधुनिक युग में सभी मूल्यों को परखा जाना चाहिए. कोई एक मूल्य सर्वोपरि है ऐसा नहीं है. ऑनलाइन कोर्स और ई-कंटेंट विकास के क्षेत्र में भी यह बात समझनी अनिवार्य है.

February 24, 2020 was the second day of the seven days short term course on “MOOCs, e-content development and open educational resources” conducted under the aegis of the UGC_Human Resource Development Center, University of Allahabad. Two lectures were conducted on the second day. The first lecture was delivered by Dr. B.K. Singh, Librarian, University of Allahabad on the topic- “Open Educational Resources.” Dr. Singh emphasized the importance of open content and resources in the library sciences. He reiterated that today we are living in the era of open access libraries that are not bounded by library buildings and knowledge resides at a free to access space. In the second session of the course, Prof. Ashish Saxena, Head, Department of Sociology, University of Allahabad delivered a lecture on the topic- “Emerging Trends of ICT Enabled Development in India: A Critique.” In his lecture Prof. Saxena emphasized on the issue that the new technology is no doubt very important and user friendly but as the user of this technology we need to be more cautious. This is more like a double edged sword. He further said that in this post-modern era each and every value needs to be evaluated and re-evaluated. This needs to be understood in the context of online courses and e-content development.

The inaugural session of the short term course titled- “MOOCs, e-content development and Open Educational Resources” was held at the UGC-HRDC, University of Allahabad on February 23, 2020. This was the first time that the HRDC is conducting this one week course on this very important and relevant subject. The course was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of the University of Allahabad, Prof. R.R. Tewari. He delivered the inaugural lecture on the topic- “Learning in the 21st Century” where he outlined and defined the new dimensions of teaching and learning that are invented using the tools of Information and computer technology. He talked about various platforms and software that are used and can be used by the teachers in order to develop new teacher-learner interface. Prof. H.K. Sharma, the Director the HRDC emphasized on the relevance of such courses for the capacity building of the teachers and emphasized on the need of more such courses that may enhance the capacity of not only the teachers but also of the human resources in the form of students that are going to be benefitted from such online courses. The course is being coordinated by Dr. Prashant Khattri, Assistant Director, HRDC. The course is being attended by teachers from various colleges in Prayagraj and other parts of India. This course will run till February 29, 2020.

ई-कंटेंट निर्माण, और मुक्त शैक्षणिक संसाधनों पर इलाहाबाद विश्वविद्यालय के मानव संसाधन विकास केंद्र के द्वारा संचालित सात दिवसीय कोर्स का उदघाटन सत्र दिनांक 23 फरवरी 2020 को आयोजित किया गया. इस शोर्ट टर्म कोर्स का उदघाटन विश्वविद्यालय के माननीय कुलपति प्रोफ़ेसर आर.आर. तिवारी जी ने किया. उन्होंने उदघाटन सत्र में “२१ वीं शताब्दी में शिक्षा” विषय पर अपना व्याख्यान दिया. इस व्याख्यान के माध्यम से उन्होंने यह बताने का प्रयास किया कि इस शताब्दी में शिक्षा के विस्तार के लिए नयी कंप्यूटर तकनीक और सूचना तकनीक का प्रयोग अनिवार्य हो गया है. ओनलाइन कंटेंट बनाने और संप्रेषित करने के लिए नए प्रकार के उपकरण और साफ्टवेयर उपलब्ध हैं जिनकी जानकारी शिक्षकों को होना अनिवार्य है. अपने इस व्याख्यान में उन्होंने कई ऐसी नयी प्रणालियों और साफ्टवेयरों के बारे में जानकारी दी. केंद्र के निदेशक, प्रोफ़ेसर एच.के. शर्मा जी ने विषय पर अपनी बात रखते हुए कहा कि इस प्रकार के कोर्स द्वारा शिक्षकों में क्षमता के निर्माण किया जा सकता है. यह केवल शिक्षकों के लिए ही नहीं बल्कि मानव संसाधन विकास जिसमे छात्र एक अति महत्वपूर्ण अंग हैं के लिए भी लाभकारी होगा. इस कोर्स को केंद्र के सहायक निदेशक डा. प्रशांत खत्री संचालित कर रहे हैं. इस कोर्स में प्रयागराज और देश के अन्य क्षेत्रों के कालेजों से आये प्रतिभागी हिस्सा ले रहे हैं. यह कोर्स 29 फरवरी तक चलेगा.

The occasion was graced by the valuable presence of chief guest of the event Prof. R. R.Tewari, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, University of Allahabad, Prayagraj; Prof. H.K.Sharma, Director – UGC-Human Resource Development Centre, UoA, Dr. Prashant Khatri, Assistant Director, HRDC, Prof. Ashish Saxena, Coordinator of the 126rd Orientation Course, Human Resource Development Centre, UoA. In all around 40 participants across the disciplines covering various Universities/Colleges of the country actively attended the valedictory session. At the outset, Prof. Ashish Saxena, Coordinator and Head, Dept. of Sociology conducted the programme and welcomed the dignitaries with the floral bouquet and followed by the outline of the said course. He shared the experiences in running the academic event and the diversity of resource persons with rigorous interdisciplinary framework. Director, Prof. H.K.Sharma gave the formal welcome speech He briefed about the overall outline of the 21 days academic event. He emphasized the relevance of orientation and the congratulated the participants for successful completion of the said course. He also offered token of memento to the chief guest. At this juncture, chief guest of the event, Prof. R.R.Tewari , Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, spoke on the Value and ethics associated with teachers in higher education. He spoke at length about the sincerity and professionalism in teaching, which might be a generation of computers, use of ICT and the pedagogy in computer application, at the last, he spoke about the legacy of J K Insitution and University of Allahabad in DRDO and prestigious National Projects. The event was followed by the certificate of participation to the participants by the chief guest. The participants also shared their experiences as learner’s and appreciated the diversity of academic activities. They also appreciated the homely comfort and sincerity of the team of the Academic Staff College, University of Allahabad. At the outset, Prof. Ashish Saxena, Coordinator and Head, Dept. of Sociology conducted the programme and welcomed the dignitaries with the floral bouquet and followed by the outline of the said course. He shared the experiences in running the academic event and the diversity of resource persons with rigorous interdisciplinary framework. He also briefed about the overall outline of the 21 days academic event. He highlighted the sincerity and inter-disciplinarity of the orientation course. At this juncture, chief guest of the event, Prof. M.P. Dubey, Hon’ble Ex-Vice Chancellor, spoke on the relevance of orientation and debated the landmark interventions in the field of higher education. He discussed the responsibility of transferring the wisdom and also learning various skills during the orientation, especially academic, ethical, social, personality and others. At the end, he emphasized upon the relevance of Environmental issues and challenges especially Stewardship, Utilitarian and Value within attribute towards higher learning. To him teachers are the brand equity to attract the stakeholders to the institutions. Prof. S.I. Rizvi, Dean R&D spoke at length on the scientific intervention and the application of knowledge. He identified the new challenges in the higher education and the responsibility of teachers as transformers of society. The event was followed by the formal introduction by the participants. The Inaugural session was conducted and ended with formal vote of thanks by Dr. Muneer Illath, faculty in Department of Sociology, University of Allahabad. In pursuance of quality training and proving as a distinguished centre for motivating teachers towards the academic frontiers in higher education, UGC-Human Resource Development Centre, University of Allahabad on the eve of ‘Valedictory Session’, successfully concluded its 125th Orientation Course on 4th November, 2019. The occasion was graced by the valuable presence of Chief Guest of the event Prof. Peeush Ranjan Agarwal, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Awadesh Pratap Singh University, Rewa, M.P. Prof. A.R.Siddiqui, Officiating Director, Human Resource Development Centre, UoA, Prof. Ashish Saxena, Academic Coordinator of the 125th Orientation Course, Human Resource Development Centre, UoA. Prof. R.K.SinghHon’ble Director, UGC-HRDC, UoA could not attend the session owing to sad demise in the family.   

In all, around 40 participants across the disciplines covering various Universities/Colleges of the country actively attended the valedictory session. At the outset, Prof. Ashish Saxena, Coordinator and Head, Dept. of Sociology conducted the programme and welcomed the dignitaries with the floral bouquet and followed by the broader outline of the said course. He shared the experiences in running the academic event and the diversity of resource persons with rigorous interdisciplinary framework. Prof. A.R.Siddiqui, Officiating Director and faculty Department of Geography gave the formal welcome to the chief guest and introduced his credentials to the participants. He congratulated the participants and inspired the participants to carry forward the learning to their respective places. At this juncture, chief guest of the event, Prof. Peeush Ranjan Agarwal, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, APS University, Rewa, spoke on the relevance of Value and Ethics associated with teachers in higher education. He discussed the sensibility of transferring the wisdom and experiences to the next generation and also indicated the privatization of education as a challenge to the future academicians.  Prof. Agarwal also indicated the remedy towards Public institutions through effective delivery of Teaching, Research and Corporate responsibility. At the end, he emphasized upon the adaptability and sharpening of Knowledge, Skills and Attitude as a significant attribute towards higher learning. He expressed the knowledge as a bank passbook which yields good interest and to him teachers are the brand equity to attract the stakeholders to the institution. The representative participants, namely Dr. Mudita Tewari and Dr. Anand Pandey also shared their experiences of the participants as learner’s and appreciated the academic diversity of the said course. They also appreciated the homely comfort and sincerity of the team of the Academic Staff College, University of Allahabad. The event was followed by the certificate of participation as well as token memento to the meritorious participants by Prof. Peeush Ranjan Agarwal. The 124th Orientation program was coordinated by Prof. A R.Siddiqui, department of Geography. In all around 40 participants across the disciplines covering various Universities/Colleges of actively attended the valedictory session. Prof. Ashish Saxena, conducted the program and welcomed the dignitaries with the floral bouquet. Prof. R.K.Singh gave the formal welcome speech, he briefed about the overall outline of the academic event. He emphasized the relevance of orientation and the congratulated the participants for successful completion of the said course. He he also outlined the continuation of orientation with other e-platforms offered by Ministry of Human Resource Development and UGC. At this juncture, chief guest of the event, Prof. Sangeeta Srivastava, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, narrated the motivated stories the relevance of teachers to the society, especially in terms of nation building. She emphasized the the incorporation of simplicity and a meaningful way of life. She motivated the participants for holistic learning towards attainment of academic goals. At the end she emphasized upon the relevance of gender sensitization in the higher education. She commented on the the domination of sexuality in the minds of the people and suggested to avoid the same.The event was followed by the certificate of participation to the participants by the chief guest. The participants also shared their experiences as learner’s and appreciated the diversity of academic activities. The valedictory session ended with formal vote of thanks by one of the participants namely, Dr. Savya Sachi. Vice-Chancellor’s Addresses Teacher Participants in Academic Staff College

Prof. Rattan Lal Hangloo, Honb’le Vice-Chancellor, University of Allahabad interacted with the teacher participants of 120th Orientation Programme, coordinated by Prof. Ashish Saxena, Head of Department of Sociology, he welcomed him with the bouquet and welcome address was delivered by Director Prof. R K Singh,Human Resource Development Centre, University of Allahabad. Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor highlighted  various aspects of the Orientation Programme and appealed to all for adopting appropriate pedagogy to make education student centric and more in sync with the requirement of the  21st century. He also discussed the relevance of course work in the doctoral programme and presented a model frame work for effective implementation of the coursework. The sole objective was to raise the standard of our doctoral research in general and take appropriate measures to make our education more relevant and also to take it to the highest level of excellence. Further, he emphasized the importance of planning & communication in research work.. Finally, Dr. Dhananjay Chopra, Coordinator, Centre of Media Studies delivered a vote of thanks for such an enriched and interactive session at Human Resource Development Centre, University of Allahabad.
