Research Work

Work Carried out: Dr. A. K. Rai
  1. Late Quaternary planktic foraminifera at ODP site 728A, northwestern Arabian Sea
  2. Miocene deep sea benthic foraminifera at Broken Ridge in the eastern Indian Ocean
  3. Late Quaternary changes in the foraminiferal and pteropod composition in the western Arabian Sea
  4. High resolution study of foraminifera in the eastern Arabian Sea during last ~35 kyrs
Dr. J. K. Pati
  1. Study of terrestrial meteoritic impact craters (in India and abroad) and impact cratering research (including Moon, planets of the inner solar system and comets)
  2. Geological study (mineralogy, petrology, geochemistry, structural geology, ore geology, remote sensing and geochronology) of Archean Bundelkhand craton
  3. Environmental Geology
  4. Basement reactivation and flood plain mapping using field and remote sensing data in Ganga plain
  5. Experimental Mineralogy and Petrology at high P-T
Dr. J. N. Tripathi
  1. Probabilistic seismic hazard is estimated using method of moment for three stochastic models namely, Weibull, Gamma and Lognormal for the Gujarat region and North-East India region
  2. Coda attenuation properties and its variation have been estimated in the seismic and tectonically active lithosphere of the Garhwal Himalaya using single and multiple scattering models for local earthquakes
  3. Envelope-broadening parameters have been estimated for the fore- and back-arc side of the volcanic front of Japan. Average envelope-broadening parameters at a reference distance are also estimated to compare the crustal medium characteristics in both sides of the volcanic front
  4. Probabilities for the occurrences of medium to large earthquakes in Northeast India and adjoining region with the help of extreme value theory. The most probable largest earthquakes that may occur within different time periods have been also estimated

Dr. S S Das

    1. Sedimentology and stratigraphy of Neoproterozoic Chattisgarh Basin
    2.  Gondwana sedimentation and  stratigraphy, trace fossils: Giridih Basin
    3.  Sediment transportation & sorting processes, Paleohydraulics in streams
    4.  Clay Sedimentology in Quaternary paleomonsoon and provenance interpretations
    5.  Sediment mixing patterns at the river confluences

Ms. Priyamvada Singh

    1. Attenuation characteristics from seismic coda analysis
    2. Time series analysis of GPS data
    3. Investigation of groundwater condition using geoelectrical resistivity method
