About

Department of Education, University of Allahabad was established in the year 1942 with M.Ed. Programme. Colonel Sohan Lal was the first Head of the Department. B.A. classes were started in 1949. In 1981 classes in M.A. were started with the objectives of developing academic excellence. The Department consistently ensure constructive and conducive learning environment. Department completed 75 year of Excellence in 2017.

Department of Education implemented DRS-I of the UGC SAP for a duration of Five years (01.04.2011 to 31.03.2016). Department is presently running UGC SAP DRS Phase- II (2018 to 2023). The staff members of the Department have collaborated with various organization like University Grants Commission (U.G.C.), N.C.E.R.T., NCTE, SIEMAT for academic endeavors.

Department has also worked on e-PG Paathshala Project of UGC in Collaboration with CIET, NCERT, New Delhi. Department is publishing National Journal “Research and Studies” Since 1950 annually ISSN number 0084-621. Department is also Publishing UGC-SAP Annual News Letter since 2013. The Department of Education boosts of fully equipped labs of Educational Psychology, Educational Technology and Science Education

दिनांक 25 फ़रवरी 2020 को शिक्षा शास्त्र विभाग एवं मानव संसाधन विकास केन्द्र ,इलाहबाद विश्व विद्यालय के संयुक्त  तत्वाधान में चल रहे  चौदह दिवसीय पुनःशचर्या कार्यक्रम का समापन समारोह सम्पन्न हुआ. कार्यक्रम के मुख्य अथिति वर्तमान कुलपति इलाहाबाद विश्व विद्यालय प्रो आर आर तिवारी रहे. कार्यक्रम की अध्यक्षता पूर्व कुलपति बी एच यू प्रो जी सी त्रिपाठी ने की.वह राज्य उच्च शिक्षा परिषद के अध्यक्ष भी हैं.  इस अवसर पर विभागाध्यक्ष प्रो धनंजय यादव व कार्यक्रम समन्वयक द्वारा कार्यक्रम की रिपोर्ट प्रस्तुत की व विभाग के पूर्व कुलपति प्रो के एस मिस्र व प्रो पी के साहू को सम्मानित किया गया. कुलपति प्रो आर आर तिवारी ने अपने उद्दबोधन में कहा कि आज के समय में प्रत्येक शिक्षक को स्वयं को समय के अनुरूप तैयार करना आवश्यक है आज सूचनाओं का अथाह भंडार उपलब्ध है आवश्यकता केवल उसके उचित प्रयोग की है. उन्होंने समय के महत्व पर बोलते हुए कहा कि समाज में प्रायः लोग नियत समय से देर से पहुँचते हैं यह अच्छी आदत नहीं है. हमें ऐसे समाज का निर्माण करना है जहाँ लोग समय के महत्व को समझें. प्रो जी सी त्रिपाठी ने अपने अध्यक्षीय भाषण में कहा कि देश का निर्माण सामर्थ्य्वान चरित्रवान व देशभक्त लोग करते हैं और उनका निर्माण शिक्षक करते हैं. भारत की शिक्षा व्यवस्था में सदा ही सम्पूर्ण सृष्टि को  महत्व दिया गया और वसुधैव कुटुम्बकम की बात की. भारत विश्व गुरु बना क्यूँकि इसके चिंतन में सम्पूर्ण मानवता का चिंतन था. वही व्यक्ति संस्था व देश प्रगति करता है जो ज़्यादा देने व कम लेने पर विश्वास करता है..संस्थान बेज़ुबान हैं इसका अर्थ यह नहीं कि उनकी अस्मिता नहीं है,संस्थाओं की अस्मिता को बचाने का कार्य अध्यापक का ही है समाज की चुनौतियों का हल भारतीय जीवन मूल्यों से प्रेरित हो कर ढूँढा जाना चाहिए उन्होंने छात्रों से बेहतर संवाद स्थापित करने के लिए प्रेरित किया इस अवसर पर निदेशक प्रो एच के शर्मा, प्रो उषा मिश्रा,डा रुचि दुबे,डा प्रशांत अस्तलिंन उपस्थित रहे इस अवसर पर विभाग में वार्षिक न्यूज़ लेटर का विमोचन भी हुआ डा संजय चौबे व डा चेतना ने प्रतिभागियों की तरफ़ से अपने विचार रखे कार्यक्रम का संचालन डा आकांक्षा सिंह द्वारा व धन्यवाद ज्ञापन डा सरोज यादव द्वारा दिया गया

दिनांक 31.10.2019 को इलाहाबाद विश्विदयालय के शिक्षाशास्त्र विभाग में “पढ़े प्रयागराज” अभियान के अंतर्गत 70 विद्यार्थियों ने पंजीकरण करवाया और पूर्वाह्न 11:00 से 11:45 तक विभाग के पुस्तकालय में स्व अध्ययन किया.विभागाध्यक्ष प्रोफेसर धनंजय यादव ने छात्रों में स्वाध्याय की प्रवृत्ति को बढ़ाने के लिए पुस्तकों की भूमिका पर अपने विचार व्यक्त किये और छात्रों को पढने के लिए प्रेरित किया. विभाग के शिक्षक भी विद्यार्थियों के साथ इस अभियान में सम्मिलित हुए.
इसके पश्चात सरदार वल्लभ भाई पटेल की जयंती के अवसर पर विद्यार्थियों को सत्यनिष्ठा की शपथ दिलवाई गई और उनको इसे अपने आचरण का हिस्सा बनाने के लिए प्रेरित किया गया.विद्यार्थियों को केन्द्रीय सतर्कता आयोग द्वारा चलाये जा रहे अभियान “इमानदारी –एक जीवन शैली” के प्रति भी जागरूक किया गया.

Today on 01/10/19  To mark the 150 th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Department of Education,university of Allahabad organised slogan, poem writing and Poster making competitions for the post graduate students of the department. M.Ed. and M.A. students participated enthusiastically and expressed their creativity . Prof Dhananjay yadav deliberated on relevance of Gandhi in today’s scenario. He was delighted to see the enthusiasm of the students. He announced to organise many such activities in future also. Event was conducted under the supervision of Dr Akanksha Singh. Entries were judged by Dr Ruchi Dubey Dr Saroj Yadav and Dr Prashant Astalin. Winners of the event are Monika and shiv bhajan under slogan category Nikita and Abhishek under poem category and Upasana and shiv Raj under poster category.
महात्मा गांधी की १५० वीं जन्म शती के उपलक्ष्य में शिक्षाशास्त्र विभाग इलाहाबाद विश्वविद्यालय में कविता स्लोगन लेखन एवं पोस्टर प्रतियोगिता का आयोजन परास्नातक विद्यार्थियों के लिए किया गया. एम ए तथा एम एड के छात्र छात्राओं ने बड़े उत्साह के साथ भाग लिया और अपनी सृजनात्मकता का प्रदर्शन किया. इस अवसर पर विभाग अध्यक्ष प्रफ़ेसर धनंजय यादव ने गांधी जी के विचारों की आज के समय में प्रासंगिकता से अवगत कराया व इस प्रकार की गतिविधियों को विभाग में। आगे भी संचालित करने के लिए अभिप्रेरित किया कार्यक्रम डॉक्टर आकांक्षा सिंह के निर्देशन में सम्पन्न हुआ  डॉक्टर रुचि दुबे डॉक्टर सरोज यादव एवं डॉक्टर प्रशांत इस कार्यक्रम के जज थे उन्होने हर श्रेणी में दो उत्तम रचना का चुनाव किया स्लोगन में प्रथम स्थान मोनिका यादव व द्वितीय स्थान शिव भजन कविता लेखन में प्रथम स्थान निकिता यादव व द्वितीय स्थान अभिषेक कुमार  पोस्टर में प्रथम स्थान उपासना सिंह व द्वितीय स्थान शिवराज मिश्रा को प्राप्त हुआ

Mahatma Gandhi National council of Rural Education (MGNCRE) Hyderabad,Ministry of Human Resource Development in collaboration with Department of Education, organized a round table meetingon 8thFeb2019 at Department of Education, University of Allahabad .
MGNCRE is commemorating the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. For this purpose the institute is conducting with two programmes one is NaiTalim (experiential learning and work education) second Rural Community Engagement, nationwide.Ms.SarvaniPandey from MGNCRE Hyderabad addressed a round table meeting and detailed about the purpose and objectives of the Programme. Prof. K.S. Misra, Vice chancellor on chair was presiding the meeting and Prof.AsimMukharjee, Head, Department of Commerce and Business Administration and Dr.Dhananjai Chopra, Coordinator, Centre of media studies along with Prof.DhananjayYadav,Head, Education Department and programme coordinator Prof.P.K.sahoo were present in the meeting along with all faculty members of the education departmentProf.Usha Mishra,Dr.Akanksha, Dr.RuchiDubey, Dr.SarojYadavand Dr.PrashantAstalin. Members deliberated at length regarding different aspects of the programme initiative and expressed their willingness to accommodate relevant portions in the existing teacher education curriculum.

इलाहाबाद विश्विद्यालय के शिक्षा शास्त्र विभाग में रविवार दिनांक 27.01.2019 को विभाग की परास्नातक छात्र परिषद् द्वारा सांस्कृतिक कार्यक्रम “वसंतोत्सव” का आयोजन किया गया.कार्यक्रम के मुख्य अतिथि प्रो.हर्ष कुमार ,छात्र कल्याण अधिष्ठाता का स्वागत विभागाध्यक्ष प्रो. धनञ्जय यादव द्वारा किया गया.इस अवसर पर वनस्पति शास्त्र विभाग के प्रो. एन बी सिंह ने पर्यावरण के प्रति जागरूक करते हुए पौध वितरण भी किया.परास्नातक छात्रों द्वारा शिक्षापरक मनमोहक प्रस्तुतियां दी गई.एम्. ए. की अमृता बरनवाल एवं एम्. एड. की सरिता,जया,सीमा,पूनम,श्रद्धा द्वारा विभिन्न राज्यों का पारंपरिक नृत्य प्रस्तुत किया गया.एम्.एड. की दिव्या एवं पूर्णिमा के निर्देशन में “देश की अखंडता” पर नाटिका प्रस्तुत की गई. मुख्य अथिथि प्रो. हर्ष कुमार ने अपने संबोधन में शिक्षा के महत्त्व पर विचार रखे.और छात्रों को भावी जीवन के लिए शुभाशीष दिया. कार्यक्रम का सञ्चालन सौम्य,मनीष,एवं राकेश मिश्र द्वारा किया गया.अभिषेक,अरविन्द, संदीप द्वारा कविता पाठ एवं वंदना द्वारा गीत प्रस्तुत किया गया.इस अवसर पर विभाग के शिक्षक उपस्थित रहे साथ ही विभाग के पूर्व शिक्षक प्रो. सुधा मल्होत्रा ,प्रो. उमा रानी शर्मा,प्रो.प्रतिभा उपाध्याय ,प्रो. विद्या अग्रवाल व् प्रो.सुजाता रघुवंश भी कार्यक्रम में उपस्थित रहे.कार्यक्रम पी जी एसोसिएशन की अध्यक्षा डॉ.आकांक्षा सिंह एवं सचिव एम्.एड.छात्र अनिलेश के निर्देशन में सफलतापूर्वक संपन्न हुआ.

Valedictory Function UGC HRDC Refresher Course on Teacher Educators
The Teacher Educators refresher course was concluded on 13.03.2019 in Education Department. The theme was Teacher Education Curriculum and Research. 29 participants from UP, Uttarakhand Hyderabad, Bihar, MP and Jharkhand participated. The resource persons were from National Level Institutions like NUEPA, New Delhi, Mizoram Central University, DAUU, Indore, MS University of Baroda, NCERT, New Delhi, Chhatisgarh Central University, Madurai Kamaraj University, Utkal University  and University of Allahabad.  
The Valedictory function was held on 13.03.2019. The chief guest was Prof. A. Muthumanickam, Dean, School of Education, Madurai Kamaraj University and Chairperson was Prof. RK Singh, Director, UGC-HRDC, Allahabad University. Prof. Muthumanickam highlighted the need for integrating technology with education. Since, the future’s generation will demand different approaches of learning. Prof. R.K. Singh in his presidential address focused on continuous professional development of teachers by availing blended approaches of learning. The vote of thanks was given by Prof. P.K. Sahoo, Course Coordinator. Prof. Dhananjai Yadav, Head Department of Education conducted the programme.

The XIX Refresher Course in Education was inaugurated in the Department of Education, on 14-02-2017. The programme began with ‘Lighting of the Lamp’ by the honourable guests and faculty members of the department of Education followed by ‘Saraswati Vandana’. The welcome address was given by Professor Sujata Raghuvansh, Head of the Department and Co-ordinator of the Refresher course. Professor R. K. Singh, Director, UGC, HRDC addressed the participants and spoke about issues that plague the Higher Education System. He also mentioned that modification of policies and required to achieve desirable objectives. Professor Rajendra Prasad, Vice-Chancellor, Allahabad State University was the chief guest of the inaugural session. He pointed out that all information is not knowledge and it is important to think globally and act locally. He also showed his concern on the very sensitive and problematic areas of the nation that is responsible for degradation of values at the individual, social and national level. The programme was conducted by Dr. Akanksha Singh, Professor Vidya Agarwal, Professor Usha Mishra, Professor Dhananjay Yadav, Dr. Ruchi Dubey, Dr. Saroj Yadav & Dr. P. Astalin were present on the occasion. The programme ended with vote of thanks by Professor P. K. Sahoo.

इलाहाबाद केन्द्रीय विश्व विद्यालय के शिक्षा शास्त्र विभाग द्वारा प्रथम ऑनलाइन रिफ्रेशर कोर्स का आयोजन 16.09.2020 से 29.09.2020 तक हुआ.

दिनांक 29.09.2020 को इलाहाबाद केन्द्रीय विश्व विद्यालय के शिक्षा शास्त्र विभाग द्वारा आयोजित प्रथम ऑनलाइन 14 दिवसीय रिफ्रेशर कोर्स का समापन समारोह संपन्न हुआ. कार्यक्रम के मुख्य अतिथि शकुंतला मिश्र राष्ट्रीय पुनर्वास विश्विद्यालय, लखनऊ के कुलपति राणा के पी सिंह ने अपने संबोधन में राष्ट्रीय शिक्षा नीति 2020 के आलोक में आत्म निर्भर भारत एवं अनुसंधान के महत्त्व को रेखांकित किया.

समापन समारोह की अध्यक्षता कर रहे इलाहाबाद विश्विद्यालय के पूर्व कुलपति प्रो के एस मिश्र ने अपने अध्यक्षीय भाषण में प्रतिभागियों को संबोधित करते हुए कहा कि शिक्षक शिक्षा से जुड़े लोगों का यह दायित्व है कि वह जिम्मेदारी पूर्वक गुणवत्तापरक शिक्षक बनाने का कार्य करें.

विभागाध्यक्ष प्रो धनञ्जय यादव ने मुख्य अतिथि एवं प्रतिभागियों का स्वागत किया और कार्यक्रम की सफलता पर बधाई दी.

कोर्स कोऑर्डनेटर डॉ आकांक्षा सिंह ने 14 दिवसीय कार्यक्रम की रिपोर्ट प्रस्तुत करते हुए बताया कि इस कोर्स में दस राज्यों के 20 अलग अलग संस्थानों से 33 प्रतिभागियों ने प्रतिदिन दो सत्रों में आयोजित ऑनलाइन लेक्चर में प्रतिभाग किया और दस राज्यों के 15 विभिन्न विश्वविद्यालयों से विषय विशेषज्ञो ने अपने विचारों से प्रतिभागियों को शिक्षक शिक्षा के क्षेत्र में नए आयामों से परिचित कराया. इलाहाबाद विश्विद्यालय के कुलपति प्रो आर आर तिवारी ने भी प्रतिभागियों के साथ डिजिटल तकनीकी के विकास क्रम एवं अकादमिक एवं शैक्षिक गतिविधियों में डिजिटल तकनीकी के प्रयोग पर अपने विचार साझा किये थे .इस कार्यक्रम ने देश के करीब 35 उच्च शिक्षा संस्थानों के लोगों को एक सूत्र में पिरो दिया. कार्यक्रम में राष्ट्रीय शिक्षा नीति 2020 के क्रियान्वयन सम्बंधित मुद्दों पर , अनुसंधान विधियों पर , उच्च शिक्षा में गुणवत्ता ,पाठ्यचर्या एवं मूल्यांकन सम्बंधित विषयों पर व्याख्यान एवं चर्चा की गई.प्रतिभागियों ने भी आभासी मंच पर अपने विचार साझा किये और उनका मूल्यांकन भी किया गया.मानव संसाधन विकास केंद्र के सह निदेशक डॉ प्रशांत खत्री ने बताया इस वर्ष विश्विद्यालय अनुदान आयोग एवं मानव संसाधन विकास केंद्र द्वारा सभी रिफ्रेशर कार्यक्रम को ऑनलाइन संचालित करने का निर्देश दिया गया है.समापन समारोह का सञ्चालन डॉ सरोज यादव द्वारा किया गया और धन्यवाद ज्ञापन प्रो उषा मिश्र द्वारा दिया गया, कार्यक्रम में प्रो. पी के साहू ,डॉ रूचि दुबे व् अन्य गणमान्य अतिथि उपस्थित रहे.

The Department of Education, University of Allahabad and Human Resource Development Centre organized its first an online refresher course for teacher educators, otherwise it was 20th Refresher course of the Department. It was online course but lectures were live and participants had to attend it in synchronous mode. Theme of the course was “Quality concerns in Teacher Education and Research in the context of NEP-2020”. It was a 14-day programme 16.09.2020 to 29.09.2020.

There were 33 participants who participated in this course. Participants were from 10 different states of India. Resource persons of 10 states and 15 universities deliberated online on various contemporary issues related to teacher education. This programme was exemplary in the sense that it connected 35 higher education institution of India on one platform.

Valedictory Programme was held on 29th September 2020.Chief Guest of the valedictory session was Prof.R.K.P. Singh, Vice Chancellor, Shakuntala Mishra National Rehabilitation University, Lucknow. He highlighted National education Policy and Concerns for self-Reliant India and promotion of research. Chairperson of the valedictory session Prof.K.S. Misra, former Vice Chancellor, University of Allahabad projected that teacher educators should take responsibility for preparing quality teachers for digital era.

In this Programme Prof.R.R. Tiwari, Vice Chancellor, University of Allahabad also interacted with the participants and shared his views on development of Digital Technologies and how it can be effectively used in academic and administrative purposes. Course was Coordinated by Dr. Akanksha Singh. Other topics on which eminent speakers shared their views were-National education Policy 2020, Research Methodology, Peer Mediated Learning, Professional ethics, Curriculum Assessment and Evaluation and quality issues in Higher education.

Web Lecture Series

Department of Education, University of Allahabad, organized web lecture series from various experts in the field of Education to keep the students engaged during the lockdown. The lectures were delivered through online mode and live streaming helped in reaching out to a large audiences. These lectures were telecasted at social media platforms, and a large number of participants benefitted across 24 states of India as well as abroad. INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR on QUALITY EDUCATION FOR SOCIAL INCLUSION AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT In Collaboration with AMBEDAKER FOUNDATION, MINISTRY OF SOCIAL JUSTICE AND EMPOWERMENT, GOI, NEW DELHI.
The Department of Education, University of Allahabad, under the patronage of Prof. R. L. Hangloo, Vice Chancellor, University of Allahabad and advise of Sri D. P. Majhi, Director, Ambedaker Foundation, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt. of India, New Delhi, to commemorate death anniversary of Dr. B. R. Ambedaker, organized an International Seminar on QUALITY EDUCATION FOR SOCIAL INCLUSION AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT on 19-20 Dec, 2019. The event was organized under the aegis of Faculty of Arts, University of Allahabad with the support of HRDC, Department of Geography, Economics, Sociology, Physical Education, and Music. A total of 256 participants belonging to more than 15 states of India participated in this event with 176 papers. Academicians and researchers from different reputed institutions like IGNOU, Jamia Millia Islamia, JNU, Ambedaker University, Delhi, Tata Institute, Mumbai, Guru Ghasi Das Central University, Bilaspur, Sagar University, Sagar, Mahatma Gandhi International Hindi University, Vardha, BHU, Varanasi contributed in the deliberations. Chief Guest Prof. Sugata Mitra, Professor of Educational Technology, New Castle University, England was the Key Note speaker who beautifully dealt with his pedagogical innovations practiced in different corners of the world to facilitate learning in marginalized sections of society. Guest of Honour Prof. Om Prakash, Former Vice Chancellor, MJP Roohilkhand University, Bareilly in his address covered different dimensions of social Inclusion and realities of Indian subcontinent in detail. Special Guest Prof. S. S. Jena, Former Chairman, NIOS, Dean, Vocational Education, Ambedaker University, Delhi underlined the importance of Technological Interventions in bringing social Inclusion and attaining sustainable future. On the Chair, Dean Academics and Director, UGC - HRDC, Prof. R. K. Singh in his Presidential Address highlighted the importance of quality education and role of educationists, scientists and economists in ensuring Social Inclusion which is the cherished goal of National Education Policy 2019. International Seminar on Alternatives in School System and Teacher Education

About Theme

The seminar will explore the recent challenges in school system and teacher education with global perspectives, particularly with reference to development taking place in the developing countries with emerging policy perspectives and provide a platform to thrive upon the experiences of the scholars, functionaries of school system and teacher educators. The seminar is intended to zero in on the alternatives of school system with global perspective, open distance mode schooling, curriculum reform, networking and blended approach, research issues and innovations in Open Distance School Education and Teacher Education.

Objectives of the Seminar
  1. To facilitate the platform for knowledge exchange on experiences in the field of alternatives in school system, including Open and Distance Mode.
  2. To identify and disseminate ideas on teacher preparation to meet the challenges of alternative schooling.
  3. To provide opportunities to teacher education community for discussion on quality enhancement of school education and teacher education.

Guidelines for submission of Papers
  1. The contributors are requested to send the abstract along with research paper.
  2. For English: MS-WORD, Times New Roman-12 points and A4.
  3. For Hindi: Kruti Dev 010 16 points and A4.
  4. Paper title, name(s) of the author(s) and address for correspondence should be placed in centre alignment.
  5. The first page of the manuscript should include the title only. An abstract of 150 words should accompany each manuscript.
  6. New paragraphs should be indicated by clear indentation.
  7. Alignment: - Justified, Paper Margin-Top 1”, Left-1.5”, Right-1”, and Bottom 1”, Line spacing 1.5.
  8. Hard copy and CD should reach on or before 20 February, 2014.

The ten days workshop on research methodology in Education and Social Sciences sponsored by UGC-SAP Education was inaugurated today in the Department of Education. Prof. N.R. Farooqi, Dean R&D, delivered inaugural address highlighting the need for awareness in methodology of research and competency development exercises in research among research scholars and the young research supervisors. Prof. Y.P. Agarwal, UGC emeritus professor Kurukshetra University and Prof. P.C. Saxena, University of Allahabad delivered inauguration session lectures. Prof. Satyanarayan, Head Sociology department deliberated on theory building in Social Science and role of research in empirical generalization. Prof. B.K. Passi, former UNESCO Chair, IGNOU shall contribute towards reflective method exercises in educational research. Prof. N.N. Pandey, from MJPR University, Prof. H.N. Mishra, from Geography department, AU, Prof. Vidya Agrawal, Prof. Dhananjai Yadav and Prof. P.K. Sahoo shall act as the resource persons. The vote of thanks was given by Prof. Usha Mishra. 45 research scholars and young research supervisors from Education, Psychololgy, Sociology and Economics have joined the programme.
