About

Visual Arts Department at present provides the following programmes:

Teaching - B, A, BFA 4 yr degree course; M.A. (Painting) 2 year, Diploma in Painting (2 year), Diploma in Applied Arts and Craft (2 year) for girls and D.Phil.

The teaching in Painting was started at the graduate level from the year 1977 and with its characterized status the teaching at the post-graduate (M, A) level was started from the year 1987 and BFA in 2001, achieved a new sense of determination and purpose of fulfilling the academic, social and national goal in the sphere of arts, culture and research. The Department of Visual Arts is stationed in the NRSC building in the main Senate House Campus of the University and has been well equipped with Lab. Library. In 1942 under the aegis of renewed artist Guru K. N. Majumdar a Painting section came into being for a Diploma Certificate Course in Painting and placed in the Darbhanga Hall and since then it flourished and established as a separate Department and introduced a good number of branches in the field of art and make students fully equipped for the competitive world.

The Department of Visual Arts with it inspiring spirit and endeavor has earned laurels of the high achievements by its Faculty. The subject enjoys great popularity and more meritorious, skilled students wish to join. The course structure provides encouragement to the aspirants of better achievement in the academic and research fields. The process of restructuring the courses of study takes place from time to time to develop qualitative and inter-disciplinary research, teaching and training with great potential. The academic atmosphere of the Department is strengthened by holding conferences, seminars, workshops, exhibitions, social meets and lectures by eminent expert artists etc. We are set to more upgrade the Department to its highest level.

Two year course in which besides practical teaching is imparted in Painting, Sculpture, Applied Arts as a vocation and to train artists to achieve excellence, Indian Art History; European Arts History, Esthetics  to encourage both traditional and modern techniques in various forms of arts and its applications.

Acomplishment

The Department has the credit of holding workshops, exhibitions and conferences and visit of eminent Artists for delivering lectures:

The Department of Visual Arts is an important wing in the University; It's board spectrum of ideas and practice is formed by many varied approaches of the Arts. Each faculty member contributes to the variety of ideas and expertise of the subject.

Painting courses introduce the concepts and material of Art, Art history and further students understanding of space, image and colour etc. Visual Arts courses develop awareness of Applied Art, Sculpture, and Painting as the basic organizer of thought, feelings and image making. A range of materials, forms and traditions – both representational and non-representational – are explored. The courses investigate the relationship between painting and other forms of Art. A variety of specific courses are taught by Visual Arts Department which consists of experts in colour, space, anatomy, landscape, composition, still life, water colour, sculpture, photography etc. BFA course in painting and Techniques investigates the properties and possibilities of traditional and modern media.

Advanced painting students are mold to build upon their technical facility and conceptual base to develop personal directions.

Emphasis is placed on individual aesthetic choices of contemporary critical issues. Inquiry and experimentation into other media and discipline are encouraged.

In addition to studio instruction and practice, analytical ability to evaluate their own work and progress. A variety of critique situations provides direct contact with visiting artists, in addition to individual conferences with faculty. Various workshops provide personal contact with artists from many locations including Delhi, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana etc. and from other important cities of India. Art students thus develop awareness of the concerned, styles, and approaches of professional artists from a variety of cultures and background.

Spirit, talent, potential to learn and develop skills and enthusiasm for art as a way of life are necessary qualities. The Department provides students of Art a positive and professional learning, training, understanding environment, enriched by the constant resource through the exhibitions, workshops, conferences, seminars and through museum and library.

दृश्य कला विभाग के स्ंस्थापक कलागुरू क्षितीन्द्र नाथ मजुमदार जी की जन्म दिवस पर उनके व्यक्तित्व एवं कृतित्व पर व्याखान एवं स्लाइड शो दृश्य कला विभाग, इलाहाबाद विश्वविद्यालय में दिनांक जुलाई 31, 2017 प्रातः 10 बजे आयोजित होगा सभी छात्र छात्राऐं कलाप्रेमी एवं अध्यापक उपरोक्त कार्यक्रम में सादर आमंत्रित हैं।

                                    ग्रीष्मकालीन कार्यशाला (मई 17, 2017 से जून 20, 2017)
राज्य ललित कला अकादमी, उत्तर प्रदेश की ग्रीष्म कालीन कार्यशाला दिनांक मई 17 से प्रारम्भ होगी। इस कार्यशाला में 10 से 17 व 18 से 25 आयु वर्ग के अभ्यर्थी प्रतिभाग कर सकते हैं। प्रातः 8 बजे से 10 बजे तक यह कार्यशाला नियमित रूप से डेलीगेसी सभागार एवं निराला कला वीथिका में चलेगी। कार्यशाला में विषय विशेषज्ञों द्वारा चित्रकला, लोककला, छापाकला, रेखांकन आदि का प्रशिक्षण दिया जायेगा। कार्यशाला में प्रतिभाग के लिये दृश्य कला विभाग से सम्पर्क किया जा सकता है। कार्यशाला के दौरान स्लाइड शो, फिल्म, प्रदर्शन एवं व्याख्यान प्रतिदिन अलग-अलग विषयों पर आवश्यकतानुसार आयोजित होंगे। प्रतिलभाग करने वाले सभी प्रतिभागियों को अकादमी द्वारा प्रतिभागिता प्रमाण पत्र प्रदान किया जायेगा तथा कार्यशाला में निर्मित कलाकृतियों की प्रदर्शनी 18 से 20 जून 2017 को निराला कला वीथिका में आयोजित की जायेगी।

ऽ दृश्य कला विभाग के संस्थापक आचार्य एवं बंगाल स्कूल के संत चित्रकार कलाचार्य क्षितीन्द्रनाथ मजूमदार की 125वीं जयन्ती के उपलक्ष्य में दृश्यकला विभाग में कार्यशाला, प्रदर्शनी एवं संगोष्ठी का आयोजन किया जायेगा। तीन दिवसीय जयन्ती समारोह के अन्तर्गत क्षितिन्द्रनाथ मजूमदार की रेखांकन तकनीक पर आधारित कार्यशाला 29 जुलाई से 31 जुलाई तक प्रतिदिन 12 बजे से 4 बजे तक, मजूमदार के व्यिंतव एवं कृतित्व पर संगोष्ठी एवं स्लाइड शो प्रदर्शन प्रतिदिन प्रातः 10 बजे से 12 बजे तक एवं कलाचार्य क्षितिन्द्रनाथ मजूमदार के चित्रों की प्रिंट की प्रदर्शनी दृश्य कला विभाग में आयोजित होगी। जो भी छात्र छात्राएं कार्यशाला में प्रतिभाग करना चाहते हैं वह विभाग में सम्पर्क करें।

राज्य ललित कला अकादमीए उ0प्र0 एवं दृश्य कला विभागए इलाहाबाद विश्वविद्यालय द्वारा 30 दिवसीय ग्रीष्म कालीन कार्यशाला का आरम्भ 19 मई को निराला आर्ट गैलरी डेलीगेसीए इलाहाबाद विश्वविद्यालयए इलाहाबाद में डाँ0 आनन्द जयसवाल ;कुरुक्षेत्र वि0वि0द्ध द्वारा किया जायेगा। यह कार्यशाला 19 मई से 17 जून तक चलेगी। जिसमें चित्रकलाए मूर्तिकलाए प्रिन्ट मेकिंगए म्यूरलए क्राफ्टए लोक कला का प्रशिक्षण विशेषज्ञों द्वारा प्रदान किया जायेगा साथ ही कला रसास्वादन पर व्याख्यान का भी आयोजन किया जायेगा। कार्यशाला में निर्मित कलाकृतियों की प्रदर्शनी का भी आयोजन किया जायेगा। जिसमें 10 से 17 वर्ष एवं 18 से 25 वर्ष के छात्र.छात्राएं एवं कला प्रेमी कला में रुचि रखते हों व प्रशिक्षण प्राप्त करना चाहते होंए प्रत्येक कार्य दिवस में डेलीगेसी इलाहाबाद विश्वविद्यालयए इलाहाबाद से प्रवेश शुल्क जमाकर के प्रवेश फार्म प्राप्त कर सकते हैं। सभी प्रतिभागीयों को राज्य ललित कला अकादमी एवं इलाहाबाद विश्वविद्यालय द्वारा एक प्रमाण पत्र भी प्रदान किया जायेगा।
