इलाहाबाद विश्वविद्यालय में हर्षोल्लास के साथ ब्रेल दिवस मनाया गया जवाहरलाल नेहरू सेंटर फॉर डेफेरेंटली एबेल्ड स्टूडेंट्स केंद्र (इ०वि०वि०) ने ब्रेल दिवस ( 4 जनवरी 2024) के उपलक्ष्य पर इलाहाबाद विश्वविद्यालय के दिव्यांग छात्रों हेतु दो प्रतियोगिताएं आयोजित की गई। पहली प्रतियोगिता हिंदी गीतों की धुन सुन कर गीतों की पहचान और गीत के बोल बताने की थी। इस प्रतियोगिता में प्रथम स्थान पर भारत सोनी, द्वितीय स्थान पर पंकज मिश्रा और तृतीय स्थान पर नारायण सिंह रहे ।दूसरी प्रतियोगिता व्हीलचेयर रेस प्रतियोगिता (50 मीटर) थी। इस प्रतियोगिता में प्रथम स्थान उमेश चौधरी, द्वितीय स्थान पंकज मिश्रा और तृतीय स्थान रोहित शर्मा को मिला। दोनों प्रतियोगिताएँ मध्यकालीन एवं आधुनिक इतिहास विभाग, इलाहाबाद विश्वविद्यालय के प्रांगण में आयोजित हुई। कार्यक्रम में केंद्र के संयोजक प्रो॰ आलोक प्रसाद के अतिरिक्त अंजुल कुमार, सौरभ कुमार, ओमजी पांडे ( क॰ सहायक) , डॉ. आनंद प्रताप चंद, डॉ. चंद्रभान यादव, संभ्रांत शुक्ला, सुशील यादव, विजय कुमार, प्रांजल बरनवाल,अनुरुद्ध कुमार,अनिल कुमार सिंह,महेश चंद्र तथा कई अन्य छात्र उपस्थित थे।

दिनांक 29 नवंबर 2018 को इलाहाबाद विश्वविद्यालय के नॉर्थ हॉल में "भारत में जाति की समस्या:इतिहास और इतिहास लेखन" विषयक दो दिवसीय राष्ट्रीय संगोष्ठी का उद्घाटन हुआ। यह गोष्टी आई.सी.सी.आर, आई.सी.एच.आर और समाजिक नयाय एवं अधिकारिता मंत्रालय द्वारा प्रायोजित है।
कार्यक्रम के मुख्य अतिथि इलाहाबाद विश्वविद्यालय के कुलपति प्रोफेसर रतन लाल हांगलू ने कहा कि जाति कैंसर की बीमारी की तरह है जो समाज को खोखला कर रही है और इसलिए इसका उन्मूलन आवश्यक है जिसके लिए सबसे पहले इसका गहन अध्ययन करने की आवश्यकता है ।उन्होंने कहा कि इलाहाबाद विश्वविद्यालय के के मध्यकालीन एवं आधुनिक इतिहास विभाग को जाति के अध्ययन और विश्लेषण के लिए लगातार कई संगोष्ठीयां कराने के साथ शोधपरक पुस्तकें प्रकाशित करनी चाहिए और यह शोध बिना किसी पूर्वाग्रह से ग्रसित होकर करना चाहिए। कार्यक्रम का विषय प्रवेश व्याख्यान देते हुए इतिहास विभाग (जेएनयू ,नई दिल्ली) के प्रोफेसर उमेश अशोक कदम ने इस बात पर बल दिया कि जाति प्रथा को खत्म करने के लिए प्रत्येक व्यक्ति को संकल्प लेना होगा और साहस दिखाना होगा चाहे वह जिस भी जाति के हो। विशिष्ट अतिथि और वर्तमान में उत्तर उच्चतर शिक्षा विभाग आयोग(उ.प्र.) के अध्यक्ष प्रोफेसर ईश्वर शरण विश्वकर्मा ने इस बात पर बल दिया कि भारतीय प्राचीन कालीन परंपरा में जातिवाद को खत्म करने के तत्व मौजूद हैं और हमें उससे परिणाम मिल सकते हैं । केंद्र सरकार की शोध संस्थाएं आईसीएचआर और आईसीपीआर के सदस्य सचिव प्रोफेसर रजनीश शुक्ला ने कहा कि डॉ आंबेडकर ने जिस जाति विहीन प्रबुद्ध भारत का सपना देखा था उसे पूरा करने के लिए वर्तमान केंद्र सरकार कटिबद्ध और इस प्रकार की संगोष्ठी को वित्तीय सहायता देने के लिए सदैव तत्पर है। कार्यक्रम की अध्यक्षता कर रहे प्रोफ़ेसर योगेश तिवारी(विभागाध्यक्ष ,मध्यकालीन एवं आधुनिक इतिहास विभाग) ने कहा कि जाति राष्ट्र निर्माण और सामाजिक विकास में बहुत बड़ा रोड़ा है और इसका उन्मूलन होना ही चाहिए। कार्यक्रम में सेमिनार की प्रोसीडिंग्स को 4 पुस्तकों के रूप में प्रकाशित किया गया है जिनका का लोकार्पण भी उद्घाटन समारोह में हुआ। कार्यक्रम का संचालन मध्यकालीन इतिहास विभाग के एसोसिएट प्रोफेसर और दो दिवसीय सेमिनार के आयोजन सचिव डॉ. आलोक प्रसाद ने किया और धन्यवाद ज्ञापन सेमिनार के संयोजक डॉ. विक्रम हरिजन ने प्रस्तुत किया। कार्यक्रम में शुबिया हशमत, परवीन जहां, साक्षी मिश्रा, सोनिका गुप्ता, डॉ ज़ेबा नक्वी, डॉ अंजली यादव, डॉ अनिल यादव, डॉ विजय मधेशिया, डॉ भावेश द्विवेदी, गोविंद मिश्र ,गोविंद निषाद, कुमकुम ,आशीष पाल, गुंजन पाठक ,अर्चना त्रिपाठी, प्रोफेसर आशीष सक्सेना, सरोज, यादव देवेंद्र नाथ गिरी, पंकज चौधरी, ने विशेष तौर पर भाग लिया।

Jawaharlal Nehru Center for Differently Abled Students JNCDAS of University of Alllahabad (A.U) organized a programme at Nirala Art Gallery Sabhagar to celebrate International Day for Person with Disability for 2018. The theme for this programme, as mandated by United Nation, was Empowering the Disabled and Strengthening Equality with Social Inclusion The Chief Guest of function was Vivek Prakash (Chairman, Railway Recruitment Cell, NCR) and Ms. Manisha Goyal (DY.CME, NCR). In the first segment a Debate Competion on ‘National Swach Bharat Mission : Successes and Challenges’ was organized wherein Prof Ashish Saxena (Head , Sociology Deptt) Dr, Sanjay Kumar (Urdu Deptt.) and Dr. Saroj Yadav (Education Deptt.) of A.U judged the participants. Dr. Alok Prasad (Coordinator, JNCDAS) anchored the function while Suman Yadav (Research Scholar, Music Deptt.) presented vote of Thanks. Devendra Gupta(Researcher, Music Department, AU) and his musical group presented ghazals of famous poets and singers. In Debate Competition Aditya Tiwari, Mukesh Vaishya and Pankaj Bhai Patel secured First, Second and Third positions repectively.

जवाहरलाल नेहरू सेंटर फॉर डिफरेंटली एबल्ड स्टूडेंट्स, इलाहाबाद विश्वविद्यालय में आज विश्व सफेद छड़ी दिवस का आयोजन किया गया। सफेद छड़ी दिवस पूरे विश्व में 15 अक्टूबर को दृष्टिबाधित लोगों को सफेद छड़ी द्वारा आत्मनिर्भर,स्वतंत्र और आत्मविश्वासी बनाने के लिए सरल परंतु क्रांतिकारी योगदान के लिये संज्ञान के रूप में मनाया जाता है। वैसे तो छढ़ी दृष्टि बाधित लोगों ने बहुत प्राचीन काल से उपयोग की है परंतु छड़ी पर सफेद रंग लगाने का प्रचलन 1930 के दशक से बढ़ा क्योंकि इस रंग की छड़ी का उपयोग करने वाला के प्रति समाज में संवेदनशीलता तभी से बढी। कार्यक्रम के मुख्य अतिथि की भूमिका में इलाहाबाद विश्वविद्यालय के मध्यकालीन एवं आधुनिक इतिहास विभाग के विभागाध्यक्ष प्रोफेसर योगेशवर तिवारी ने कहा कि सफेद छड़ी न केवल दृष्टिबाधित लोगों के स्वतंत्रता का प्रतीक है बल्कि समाज की उनके प्रति जिम्मेदारी और संवेदनशीलता को प्रतिबिंबित करती है। उन्होंने कहा कि विकलांगजनों को समाज की सहानुभूति नहीं बल्कि संवेदनशीलता चाहिए। कार्यक्रम के विशिष्ट अतिथि के रूप में डीन स्टूडेंट्स वेलफेयर प्रोफेसर हर्ष कुमार ने कहा कि जिस प्रकार एक छोटी सी छड़ी एक बड़ा परिवर्तन लाती है उसी प्रकार वर्तमान समय में डिजिटल टेक्नोलॉजी के माध्यम से विकलांगता से पैदा होने वाली निशक्तता को खत्म किया जा सकता है।
कार्यक्रम का मुख्य आकर्षण नेहरू सेंटर में लगभग 25 लाख से अधिक के नवीन उपकरणों जैसे स्मार्ट क्लासरूम, ई बुक्स, कंप्यूटर, स्कैनर इत्यादि छात्रों को समर्पित करने हेतु उनका औपचारिक उदघाटन था।
नेहरू सेंटर के समन्वयक प्रोफेसर आलोक प्रसाद ने बताया कि वर्तमान समय में इलाहाबाद विश्वविद्यालय विकलांग छात्रों को सुविधा पहुंचाने में एक अग्रणी स्थान पर है। उन्होंने कहा कि माननीय कुलपति जी ने विशेष तौर पर विकलांग छात्रों को हितों को ध्यान में रखते हुए क्रेट द्वारा डि.फिल के ऐडमिशन में प्रत्येक विभाग में विकलांग छात्रों के लिए एक अतिरिक्त सीट का प्रावधान कर दिया गया है जो किसी अन्य विश्वविद्यालय में नहीं है। उन्होंने बताया कि विश्वविद्यालय ने सेंटर फॉर डिसेबिलिटी स्टडीज के लिए विस्तृत प्रस्ताव यूजीसी और एमएचआरडी को भेज दिया है और अब शीघ्र ही यह सेंटर प्रारंभ हो जाना चाहिए। इस कार्य में भी कुलपति ने बहुत सराहनीय सक्रियता दिखाई है। कार्यक्रम की अध्यक्षता सेंटर के परामर्शदाता समिति के सदस्य और विधि विभाग के विभागाध्यक्ष प्रोफेसर सिद्धनाथ ने की।
कार्यक्रम में विशेष रूप से अच्युतानंद मिश्रा, देवी प्रसाद गुप्ता, नारायण सिंह, अंजुल कुमार, मुकेश, देवेंद्र गुप्ता, विशाल, अंजली केसरवानी, ओम पांडे, महेश प्रजापति, अनुराधा, हेमा सिंह, पंकज चौधरी चंद्र, भूषण भारती, अवधेश इत्यादि ने सक्रिय रूप से भाग लिया।

Celebration of 20 years of PwD Act on June 4, 2015
To what extent has the Person with Disability (PwD) Act, 1995 delivered the goods for the differently-abled in the last two decades? What kind of course correction is required in the trajectory of disability legislation ? Will the new disability bill under consideration in the parliament be a game changer for empowerment of the PwD? These were some of issues discussed in a brainstorming discussion held under the auspices the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for the Differently Abled Student (JNCDAS) at AU. The discussions were a part of function organized by JNCDAS for celebration of 20 years of PwD Act. As part from the function a camp to distribute tricycles, wheelchairs and crutches free of cost to the students was organized. An innovative aspect of the function was the initiative taken by the JNCDAS to enlist the services of an international organization Dr. Reddy's Foundation (DRF). DRF held an orientation programme to sensitize the students about the various training programmes it conducts for differently-abled youth to build their capacities in soft skills eventually meant to enable them to face competition in the job market. These soft skills include computer skills, English conversation, quantitative test, PR skills etc. Dr Alok Prasad, Coordinator JNCDAS said that a person with a simple higher education degree is considered unsuitable for corporate sector jobs unless he has these simple but vital "soft skills". Thus, these skills bridge the gap between university training and aspirations of recruiters in corporate job market.
Prof. N.R. Farooqi, Vice Chancellor AU, was the Chief Guest while Prof. J. Ansari (DSW) was the Guest of Honour. Prof. Siddhnath of Law Department was the key note speaker while A.R. Siddiqui proposed vote of thanks.
Prof. Farooqi declared that the Academic Council has passed the proposal for establishing a new Department in AU Centre for Disability Studies. This Centre will be one of kinds as it will carry out teaching and research in the pioneering area of "Disability Studies". Prof. Ansari said that a committee to look into various aspects of vocational courses affiliated to Rehabilitation Council of India in the field of rehabilitation of Differently-Abled will be set up soon. He said that principle approval for the upgradation of digital technologies and devices at the JNCDAS has been made by the ICT Cell of A.U. Dr. A.R.Siddiqui said that the JNCDAS can deliver the goods more meaningfully only if the students gave the feed back an even most modest problems faced by the A.U. Mithilesh Kumar, Anirudh Kumar, Ajay Mishra, Devi Singh, Devendra Rajput were among those who activity participated in the functions.
Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Differently Abled Students celebrated World Braille Day (January 4, 2015)
The Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Differently Abled Students (JNCDAS) of the University of Allahabad organized an awareness-cum-cultural program for the differently-abled students of the university at the Nirala Art Gallery Sabhagar. The programe was earlier slated to be held on January 4th (World Braille Day) but had to be rescheduled due to unavoidable reasons and was held on 22nd January. Prof. Siddhanath of Law Faculty of the University of Allahabad delivered a special lecture on the Persons with Disability (PwD) Act of 1995. Dr. Alok Prasad (Coordinator, JNCDAS) in his lecture pointed out that a comprehensive review of the PwD Act is in the offing and this amendment aims at establishing a new statutory regime for the welfare and empowerment of the differently abled persons. He added that in its present form the Act only has a provision for the grievance redressal mechanism through the office of the Commissioner for PwDs at central and state level, but fails to address the problem of social, economic, and digital inclusion. He mentioned several initiatives which have been undertaken in the university in the last three years to create an enabling environment for the differently abled students, especially information dissemination through web-page, capacity building workshops, distribution of mobility devices and digital equipment free of cost, career counseling, and prompt grievance redressal mechanism etc. The Chief Guest of the function Prof Jagdamba Singh lauded the role of JNCDAS towards welfare of the students and added the DSW office accords highest priority to the creation and maintenance of the barrier-free environment for PwDs. He said that JNCDAS is an integral part of the welfare driven establishment of DSW office and the Coordinator has acquitted his responsibilities well. The Guest of Honour Prof N R Farooqi (Dean Research and Development) distributed the trophies and certificates to the students who secured first, second, and, third position in a General Knowledge Competition which was held previously on the eve of the World Braille Day (January 4). He said that programmes of such nature should be held more often to sensitize society for the needs and for empathy for the PwDs. He added that Tanmaya Malviya, a blind student of Ancient History Deptt who secured first position in the G.K. level at the P.G. and Research level, could be a source of inspiration to one and all. Dr. A.R. Siddiqui, former DSW and currently a member of the Advisory Board of the JNCDAS, distributed consolation prizes and mementos. Among the persons to receive the mementoes were Amit Singh (Allahabad District PwD Welfare Officer), Shree Narayan Yadav (President, UP Rajya Viklang Kalyan Samiti), and Devendra Gupta (Musician and Alumni of JNCDAS)—people who have made a distinct contribution to the cause of the welfare of PwDs. Devendra Gupta and his musical band added a hearty, nostalgic touch to the programme by its songs, bhajans and ghazals. Dr. Alok Prasad anchored the function and Ajay Mishra presented the vote of thanks.
